- Received $43,000 from the city of Santa Monica, California, USA to settle a free speech lawsuit; he had been ticketed and arrested for creating and selling artworks on grains of rice. In celebration, he drew "$43K" and a picture of an Oscar on a grain of rice.
- In April of 2003 he posted a $20 dollar, 2 minute internet spoof "Passion of the Heist" at www.loushorts.com which got 6 million downloads, a feature article in the Hollywood Reporter and articles in Entertainment Weekly and other national media. Attempting to get attention for his feature film, The Gospel Of Lou, Carr played a Jewish actor, Lou Benedetti, auditioning for "Mel Gibson" who forces Lou to act more "bagels and lox". The short got him representation from Hollywood Agency CAA and a distribution deal for his feature.
