Zane Carney
- Actor
- Music Department
- Composer
Zane was born and raised in New York City and at the age of 8 he began to work on
CBS's Dave's World. During the 4 years of filming, he lived
bi-coastally between Manhattan and Los Angeles and when the show ended
its run in 1997 the whole family decided to stay in Los Angeles. During
this time, Zane continued to pursue a career as an actor while also
showing an interest in the guitar. As his desire to act waned, he began
to put more effort and time into the jazz bands at school, and
eventually decided to stop acting altogether to pursue this new dream.
During this time, he would go out almost every Monday to sit it at the
local blues jam sessions in LA (Smokin' Johnnies, Cozy's, B.B. King's)
and found that by the age of 16 he was starting to make a bit of a name
for himself as a player in that circuit. By the time Zane turned 18 he
had already won first place at the Monterey Jazz Festival with the
Hamilton High School "A" Jazz Band, Toured Japan with the
world-renowned Monter Jazz Festival All-Star Big Band, performed at the
Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for the LA Spotlight Awards Competition, and
been offered the guitar chair on Michael Buble's 2003 tour (which he
ended up not doing.) Thanks to these accomplishments, Zane was allowed
into the prestigious Studio/Jazz Guitar program at USC's Thornton
School of Music. He studied there for 3 semesters while continuing to
play locally, and he eventually left school to tour with Renee Olstead
and Jesse McCartney. Nowadays, Zane can be found playing guitar with
the house band on Last Call with Carson Daly whenever he is not on
tour.
