- Tom Caltabiano is an Emmy Award-winning writer and stand-up comedian.
He began performing stand-up in such venues as The Original Improv, The Comedy Cellar, Stand-Up NY, and Catch A Rising Star, and appeared on TV shows such as HBO Comedy Showcase. During this time, Caltabiano met fellow stand-up comedian Ray Romano, and frequently toured with him as Romano's opening act. Caltabiano eventually relocated to Los Angeles, and was a writer on Everybody Loves Raymond for the duration of the series (1996-2005). As a co-executive producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, he won two Emmys when the show was awarded Outstanding Comedy Series in 2003 and 2005. Caltabiano wrote for Romano when he hosted Saturday Night Live (1999, 2003).
In 2004, Caltabiano directed and co-starred in the documentary 95 Miles to Go. The film was an official selection at Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival, HBO's The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and The SXSW Film Festival in Austin. It had a limited theatrical run in 2006, and premiered on HBO in July 2007. It continued airing through September 2009.
In 2004, Caltabiano guest-hosted CBS's The Late Late Show. He frequently hosts the live stage show Everybody Loves Raymond: Inside The Writers Room-an evening featuring Phil Rosenthal and the Raymond writers discussing how they turned their real-life stories into 210 episodes of a sitcom. Inside The Writers Room has appeared at many venues including HBO's The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival.
In 2006 Caltabiano was a consulting producer on ABC's Emily's Reasons Why Not, and was a writer on the 2008 and 2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys.
Caltabiano is also a photographer. His photos have appeared in publications such as TV Guide, Variety, The Los Angeles Times, and The Hollywood Reporter. He appeared as a photographer in the Everybody Loves Raymond episode Robert's Wedding, Part II. The photos he took during the filming were used in a montage at the end of that episode. He took over 30,000 behind-the-scenes photos during his nine years on Everybody Loves Raymond, and a book of these photos-Everybody Loves Raymond: Our Family Album-was published by Simon & Schuster in 2004.
