Thomas Calderon

I am a Los Angeles native and Mexican-American working in mainstream commercial filmmaking, as well as independent, personal and ethnically driven projects. Credited on dozens of films and television over thirty years, the broad scope of my work experience on Hollywood feature films includes animation, comedies, action and dramas, collaborating with such directors as John Singleton, Michael Apted, Taylor Hackford, Gregory Nava, and Billy Crystal, as well as having a long time association with Carlos Avila. In addition, I've contributed on large budget Hollywood releases such as Captain America: First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I've had the opportunity to hone my craft, leveraging my nuanced sense of culture when promoting new perspectives, such as Fox International's Spanish/Argentine co-production, Todos Tenemos un Plan, starring Viggo Mortensen, or when bringing my zeal for underrepresented groups to Netflix's "Special," broadening the scope of television comedy. Recognizing the medium's power to affect culture, I'm compelled by projects that tell the often overlooked stories, in particular from my own community, to help bring a fresh awareness of what it is to be Latino in America.
