Variety has been given access to the international trailer (below) for “A Thousand Lines,” by one of Germany’s most successful directors, Michael Bully Herbig (“Manitou’s Shoe”), and starring two of its leading actors, Elyas M’Barek (“Fuck You Göhte”) and Jonas Nay (“Deutschland 83”). The film opened via Warner Bros. across German-speaking Europe two weeks ago. Beta Cinema is presenting it to buyers at AFM.

“A Thousand Lines” – a blend of satire, drama and comedy – is written by Hermann Florin, inspired by Juan Moreno’s “Tausend Zeilen Lüge.” It is the fictional adaptation of one of Germany’s biggest media scandals. The story centers on freelance journalist Juan Romero, played by M’Barek, who encounters inconsistencies in a cover story by award-winning reporter Lars Bogenius, played by Nay.

Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has acquired the worldwide rights to the romantic comedy “Say My Name” and “Robin: Watch for Wishes.”

The Los Angeles-based media production company, led by Devlin, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan, is taking on worldwide sales and domestic distribution.

“Say My Name,” written by Deborah Frances-White, revolves around a one-night stand that gets interrupted by a robbery. Two complete strangers, played by Lisa Brenner and Nick Blood, are forced to navigate the seedy underbelly of a sleepy Welsh isle in order to get back their stolen property.

The film won best Welsh feature at the Cardiff International Film Festival, best actor (Nick Blood), best actress (Lisa Brenner) and best feature film at the London Independent Film Awards.

Cinema Vault is a sales company that shows films in multiple genres. However, this company has a large catalogue of horror and thriller films. One of the highlights from the Cinema Vault horror category is Must Love Death, an Andreas Schaap production. The film takes on the serious subject matter of suicide and transforms the topic into a dark humoured comedy. Schapp's work on Must Love Death is described as "Schaap actually does an impressive job of running Norman's two storylines alongside each other [romance and horror]" (EfilmCritic). Mld will not be available for fans in large capacity for quite some time, as the film is currently being shopped at the European Film Market.
