Exclusive: After making his feature directorial debut with The Mattachine Family, Andy Vallentine has launched Huckleberry Media, an L.A.-based film and television production company with a commitment to creating daring narratives, crafting rich characters, and championing artistic innovation and inclusivity.

Joining him as a founding member is Andrew Richards, formerly of Imperative Entertainment, who will serve as VP of Film and Television Development.

In a statement to Deadline, Vallentine said, “Our mission with Huckleberry Media is to champion compelling, character-driven film and television projects. Following the recent success of The Mattachine Family, we’re excited to hit the ground running with a slate of titles that explore diverse human experiences, foster empathy, and challenge societal norms through entertaining and authentic storytelling.”

Added Richards, “I’m elated to be joining Andy as we build out a diverse slate of film and television projects in collaboration with emerging and established storytellers alike.

This August, Prime Video is bringing you a lot of entertainment with the highly anticipated Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, an all-new action-comedy film starring John Cena and Awkwafina titled Jackpot!, and an animated Batman series titled Batman: Caped Crusader. On the face of things, The Devil To Pay could just be described as a revenge thriller but it does thankfully have more to it than many other films in that genre. After the disappearance of her husband, a farmer in an isolated Appalachian community fights to save her son when the matriarch of the oldest family on the mountain demands a payment of a debt.

In less capable hands this could be a very run-of-the-mill thriller but writers and directors Lane and Ruckus Skye (also writers of this year’s Becky) make things much more interesting. For their 9th annual edition, the Atlanta Underground Film Festival will be assaulting the south from its Goat Farm Arts Center screening center on Sep. 13-16 with four days and nights of independent feature films, shorts and documentaries.

Some of the feature films screening include Lisa Duva’s multi-dimensional Cat Scratch Fever, Jason Lapeyre’s thriller Cold Blooded and Brady Hall’s hilariously named Hello, My Name Is Dick Licker.

This year’s Auff is also packed to the gills with short films with multiple blocks of shorts screening per day.
