Despite Ghostface arriving in Mortal Kombat 1 just last week, things might not bode well for future Dlc for the bloody fighter after the Khaos Reigns expansion. Purportedly, further Dlc might be in jeopardy.
According to r/MortalKombatleaks user _FateUnknown_, who has been correct in the past regarding the reveal of information about Mortal Kombat content, NetherRealm has decided to scrap a third Kombat pack of Dlc characters and a second story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 due to the poor sales of the Khaos Reigns expansion, and the expansion’s overall negative reception due to lack of content for its price.
Further on in the thread, _FateUnknown_ states that while additional content has been cancelled, a kameo fighter or two “might make it” later on, as work had already been done on them.
This isn’t the first time that Mortal Kombat 1 has faced criticism by fans and their wallets. Last...

I will fully admit that Cross is the kind of show I probably wouldn’t watch if it wasn’t my job. I don’t watch cop shows, I’ve never read any of the Alex Cross books (or any other James Patterson novel for that matter), and I’m only aware of Aldis Hodge because he played Hawkman in the franchise non-starter that was that Black Adam movie a couple years ago.
But I try to go into everything I watch with an open mind and the idea of exploring the title character’s personal struggle, especially with the talent of a lead as underutilized as Hodge (Say what you will about Black Adam but he was very good in it), certainly made Cross sound potentially more compelling than your average NCIS spin-off. The end result has its moments, but is ultimately and sadly a bit of a let-down.

The Mortal Kombat franchise has a history of gruesome finishing moves, but the upcoming Khaos Reigns expansion is taking the brutality to a whole new level. The new expansion features the return of the Animalities. Fighters can transform into monstrous creatures to finish off their opponents.

Omni-Man’s animality was recently revealed and he transforms into the giant kaiju, Hail Mary, from the Invincible series. This terrifying form draws directly from a pivotal fight in Season 1, where Hail Mary nearly kills Omni-Man, making the animality a terrifying homage to one of the most intense battles from the animated series.
Omni Man Looks Spectacular in Mortal Kombat 1
Animalities first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3 and allowed fighters to transform into spirit animals to perform finishing moves. The feature has since been absent from the franchise for nearly 20 years.

Without a doubt, Mortal Kombat has become one of the most disruptive and controversial franchises in the history of video games. It was first launched in the early 1990s, and its extreme violence and explicit visual content sparked backlash from the more conservative communities in the United States.
Years later, it has established itself as one of the most successful franchises in the industry and continues to produce new games regularly.
One of the masterminds behind this success is Ed Boon, who remains at the helm and whose cameos have appeared in various games in the series. Some players had only recently discovered these references and were surprised to find them.

Despite the passage of over 30 years since the release of the first Mortal Kombat game, every new generation continues to explore the history of the saga.

What are video games but a miserable pile of secrets? It’s always expected for developers to throw some extra unlockables in their games, whether they are extra lives, unlimited ammo, stage select, extra characters, or whatever. A lot of times these come out within a couple of months or even days. Magazine sections were dedicated to these babies and there was a whole genre of unofficial guides for this type of thing back in the day.
Still, some developers have hidden their secrets so well that it takes forever for people to discover them. That’s what this list is about. The one ground rule here is that I’m going to try and discuss secrets that are genuinely entertaining to the player. None of this stuff where you can find a hidden picture of a developer’s nephew’s birthday party. Believe me, there are so many of those out there.

Mortal Kombat is undoubtedly one of the most well-known and well-liked video game franchises of all time. Almost every time this fighting game has been released in the past few decades, it has managed to reinvent itself. And that is actually what helped the franchise survive in a very competitive and volatile market.
And while Mortal Kombat has always been a combination of story and characters, the latter are the core of the franchise as a whole and something that most – if not all – games will remember the franchise by. And while the franchise has been expanding its character roster over the decades with great reception, the most recent change angered some fans.
Namely, we know that the Mortal Kombat 1 Dlc Khaos Reigns will be released on September 24, 2024. In light of that, the first teaser trailer for the Dlc has been released and it showed that the Dlc will change...

Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest in a long list of titles from the franchise to be used in esports. Tournaments have become commonplace, and the Evo Fighting Championship is one of the most popular events of the year.
It’s a time for all professional Mortal Kombatants to come out and showcase their talent, and the newest game has a mechanic that allows them to bring backup. However, some fans have taken issue with this feature, and Ed Boon may not be happy with the criticism.
Are Mortal Kombat 1 Kameos Breaking the Game?
Many fighting games now allow players to choose assist characters that can be called in for specific scenarios. These assists can help keep the pressure on the opponent by allowing the player to either continue their combo or interrupt an attack and turn the tide of the fight.

Mortal Kombat 1 stands as one of the premier fighting games in the current gaming landscape. Although it has had a rocky start to its life, constant updates, support, and new content for the game have allowed NetherRealm Studio to craft an incredible game.
One of the most defining aspects of the game was that it followed the franchise’s core philosophy and elevated it to levels that we never expected. However, it’s clear that the developers have failed to deliver on one crucial aspect, which could lead to the downfall of the franchise if it doesn’t get resolved by the next entry.
Gamers Believe Mortal Kombat 1 Has a Terrible Intro Dialogues
There’s no doubt that intro dialogues are probably one of the most underrated aspects of the franchise. This feature was redefined with Mortal Kombat X, which dropped in 2015 for gamers who were hungry for the franchise’s over-the-top action.

Mortal Kombat is easily one of the most popular and one of the longest gaming franchises ever. Created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, the franchise has been a staple in the fighting game genre for over three decades now.
But now, as Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly considering selling off its gaming division due to enormous debt, fans can’t help but draw parallels to the original studio of Mortal Kombat, Midway Games, and their demise back in 2009.

Midway, the original publisher of the series, filed for bankruptcy back in 2009, and Warner Bros. swooped in to acquire the assets, including the franchise. This acquisition led to the birth of NetherRealm Studios, which continued to develop Mortal Kombat games under WB Interactive Entertainment.

We're still waiting (and probably will be for a while longer) on a first look at some footage from Warner Bros./New Line's Mortal Kombat 2, but producer and co-creator of the iconic video game series, Ed Boon, has now taken to social media to share a teasing glimpse of one of the new characters who'll be debuting in the sequel, Kitana.
Her face is kept hidden, but we do get a look at the fan-favorite fighter's signature weapon and costume. Kitana will be played by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Adeline Rudolph.
The Netflix series marked Rudolph's screen debut, but the Hong Kong-born model-turned-actress has also appeared in the CW’s Riverdale and Netflix’s Resident Evil series. She is also set to play the female lead in Millennium’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man.
Boon also revealed that he has seen an unfinished cut of the movie.

The recent games in the Mortal Kombat franchise have been subpar at best, and despite continuous efforts from NetherRealm Studios, they have failed to recreate the magic of early games. Many believe this boils down to lazy writing and a lack of innovation from the gaming studio.

While the excitement of Mortal Kombat fans is running high due to the reveal of Khaos Reign Dlc, one issue with the franchise has not been addressed yet. The artistic and gameplay approach of the franchise over the past few games has somewhat changed, possibly due to Ed Boon’s vision.
The past few games in the series feel very similar to MCU in the approach it takes. This is very different from early games in the series, which focused more on martial Arts, mysticism, and magic.
Mortal Kombat 1 Reflects the Change in the Franchise’s Tone
The initial games in the franchise were more geared towards magic and fighting in general. The storylines felt relatively straightforward, and the gore/brutality aspect was at the forefront.

When Mortal Kombat 1 was first released in September of last year, it featured one of the most hated game modes ever. The Kameo system is not something players were ever excited to see, especially due to the bar set by its preceding mode.
The Tag-team mode was considered one of the most enjoyable modes in the game as it gave full control over 2 characters to be used simultaneously while playing online or against a friend offline. Kmeo mode does not even come close to Tag-Team mode.

The latest game in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat 1, introduced the concept of Kameo Fighters. This gameplay mechanic allows players to select an additional character who will provide an assist during fights. There is a long list of Kameo characters that players can choose from but there is one character that the community hates: Kano.
A popular Mortal Kombat streamer, LOSTyGIRL, recently shared a clip from an online Mortal Kombat 1 game where a toxic player used Kano as a Kameo character, clearly proving that only cheap players like to pick this character. Kano has made an appearance in almost every major Mortal Kombat video game and it’s safe to say that many players are tired of seeing his face.

After the alleged references indicating that Ghostface would be coming to Mortal Kombat 1, the same dataminer who discovered the sound files has found more indicating that not only is Ghostface planned for MK1, but also Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000!

Real players are being dominated by these bots and they certainly don’t like getting defeated by them.

For those wondering just what Ed Boon has planned for Mortal Kombat 1 in terms of its next crossover with a horror franchise, we may just have gotten our answer. After teasing fans last October over the next big-name horror icon to enter the arena, it would appear that Ghostface from the Scream franchise may be the latest to enter Mortal Kombat.
In a new YouTube video, dataminer Interloko has released audio files from a recent update to Mortal Kombat 1 that have Mileena as the announcer, with the files containing two instances of Mileena announcing Ghostface as the winner. You can find those instances in the video below at 5:18 & 5:21.
Obviously, neither Boon or Warner Bros have commented (yet) regarding this find. It’s also interesting, given that the final Dlc character for the Kombat Pack Dlc in Takeda Takahashi has yet to have a release date. This leak would...

When it was first announced that a Wonder Woman game was in the works, the gaming community was divided. The Arkham series is one of the very few that can do justice to a superhero title, with others such as Avengers, Midnight Suns, and Suicide Squad completely missing the mark.
The trepidation one may have felt for Wonder Woman was not unfounded, as news has revealed there may be trouble in Themyscira. If sources are to be believed, those who were looking forward to the game are in for a long wait.
Wonder Woman Won’t Be Flying Onto Consoles and PC Anytime Soon How will Wonder Woman deflect these shots?
Game developments are bound to hit hurdles and challenges along the route to release. It’s more of a ‘when’ rather than an ‘if’, and what matters is how the studio can overcome the situation. The faster they can resolve the issue,...

The original Mortal Kombat 1 game was released by Midway in arcades in October 1992. The established rivalry between Sub-Zero and Scorpion has become a feud that has lasted for more than 30 years giving us massive lore, fantastic battles, and eponymous finishers.
However, when Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise decided to change this nostalgic lore and make Sub-Zero and Scorpion brothers in Mortal Kombat 1 reboot from 2023, many fans expressed their disapproval. That said, the controversial change wasn’t out of nowhere, since there is more to the brotherly bond between two Mortal Kombat ninjas.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion Original Pitch Sub-Zero Scorpion rivalry.
The idea of Scorpion and Sub-Zero being siblings appeared during the creation of the first game itself. Daniel Pesina, Scorpion’s original actor has revealed that creating unique characters for the Mortal Kombat universe was a time-consuming process.

From the original Mortal Kombat to Mortal Kombat 1, “Get Over Here” has become an iconic catchphrase among them. Basically, everything that Scorpion does has found a home in the hearts of people. One of his signature moves, when he harpoons the opponents through his Kunai rope dart, can raise the hair strands on anyone’s neck every time they hear it.
Little do they know, this could’ve become a matter of jokes today if the original concept had been added to the game. To that end, Scorpion might’ve become the cowboy running around, giving a loud “Yeehaw” instead of the original catchphrase. Maybe people would’ve given him a new alias, ‘Wonder Man’.
Mortal Kombat Would’ve Seen an Entirely Different Character

Since the original Mortal Kombat launched in arcades more than three decades ago, the fighting game series has been known for one aspect that sets it apart from other fighting games: its grotesque and over-the-top gore.
This has been at the center of controversy ever since. Still, it has also taught both Nintendo and creator Ed Boon one valuable lesson about the series that has gone on to sell more than 80 million copies globally.
Mortal Kombat Was Sanitized for the Snes
Mortal Kombat launched on the Snes without its iconic gory fatalities.
In an article in 2014, the BBC shed light on the impact the fighting game series has had on the entire gaming industry ever since the original Mortal Kombat saw the light of day in arcades in 1992. When the game was ported to the Snes and the Sega Genesis, the controversy surrounding the game and its brutal visuals took off.
