Since entering the film industry in 1995, Jeff has carved a niche as a camera operator and low-budget director of photography, blending technical expertise with an ability to work quickly and efficiently. Starting his career in Chicago, Jeff honed his skills as a Grip/Electric and sometimes Gaffer on feature films, television shows, and music videos. This experience equipped him with an understanding of lighting, grip and camera support, essential tools for any cinematographer.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2002, Jeff moved to the role of DP on feature-length documentaries. On these projects he often found himself as the sole member of the camera team, responsible for multiple aspects of production, including lighting and audio recording. This challenge allowed him to refine his technical skills while developing an intuitive sense for storytelling, enabling him to capture authentic moments in dynamic environments.
The documentary projects lead to shorts, music videos and narrative features. The challenges of each project allowed Jeff to create a portfolio of quality work performed at a quick pace using whatever resources were available. Each project allowed him to explore varied narratives and styles, solidifying his reputation as an efficient, versatile and innovative collaborator.
Jeff has expanded his repertoire by working as a camera operator on TV shows. This valuable experience has allowed him to further gather knowledge of the film making process.
With a diverse body of work and a dedication to the craft, Jeff continues to provide low-maintenance, conscientious and focused performance at every opportunity.
