Bengt Blomgren was the son of a merchant Gustaf Emanuel Bernhard Blomgren and his second wife Lydia Johanna Maria, maiden name Nilsson. After WW2 he studied to become an actor at Maria Schildknechts Theatre School in Gothenburg and later at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm to become a director. His head teacher was Alf Sjöberg.
According to the Swedish Actor Dictionary, Bengt Blomgren appeared in 98 film and TV roles 1942-99. He also worked an announcer in some 20 films. He directed six films during the period 1954-61. Bengt Blomgren was a director at Riksteatern 1958-88. He was engaged at the Royal Dramatic Theatre from 1951-52. He starred as an actor in various Swedish TV series. He was active until a year before his death in 2013.
