Disney’s “Moana 2” opened on Wednesday and has done incredibly well, earning over $57 million domestically and over $66 million globally. On Thursday, the film earned another $28 million domestically, bringing its total to $85.5 million.
Internationally, the film opened in only 10 markets on Wednesday, but more were added on Thursday, and China and the UK will be added on Friday. The film is expected to earn over $100 million in the international market this weekend (excluding the domestic market.)
Where did “Moana 2” come from?
“Moana 2” was only announced in February of this year.
It was one of Disney CEO Bob Iger’s sudden announcements during the proxy battle with Nelson Peltz. At the time Iger announced several “hail Mary” pass ideas to retain his board members and avoid seats being given to the “activist investor.”
“Moana 2” was meant to be a Disney+ show until it was suddenly repurposed as a film.

Hey, "Survivor" fans. Tonight, April 12,2023, another new episode of Survivor's current season 44 did indeed hit the air, and we saw another unlucky contestant bite the dust due to another big twist at the end. Tonight's new episode kicked off with Yam Yam telling the private cams, "The last tribal council sucked. I almost didn't make it, but at the end of the day, Josh went home. I'm scared that my name is an option. I'm going to try to make some friends." Matt B told the private cams that he's elated that he can finally vote at tribal council again, and he also has an idol, (which was actually fake). In fact, Matt B eventually got to thinking and realized he has a fake idol after talking with Yam Yam and Brandon about it. During their talks, he realized that Danny actually set him to find a fake idol.

Chip Gaines may have brought the #DoubleHammerFlipChallenge to the attention of many a Fixer Upper fan on Wednesday, but it was his fellow Hgtv star, Matt Blashaw, who put him up to it.
“I’ve been doing the hammer flip on my shows for a few years now and someone told me that they were watching Chip on his show and he was trying it as well,” Blashaw, who hosts the series Yard Crashers, tells People. “I figured that Chip seems like a guy that likes a challenge,” he says, so he asked the contractor on Twitter if he was up for it.

Move over mannequin challenge. Chip Gaines may have just stumbled onto the next social media phenomenon.
On Wednesday, the fun-loving star of Hgtv’s Fixer Upper took to Instagram to share a rather precarious-looking stunt involving a flying hammer.
“Not gonna lie this was a doozy,” Chip writes of the slow-motion video in which he skillfully tosses a hammer into the air, watches it do two full rotations and catches it effortlessly in the loop of his tool belt. The trick, according to his hashtag, is known as the #doublehammerflipchallenge, and it seems to have originated with another Hgtv star: Matt Blashaw of Yard Crashers.
