Prior to his acting career, he served in the U.S. Army for twenty-three months and two weeks, within 1961, 1962, and 1963.
Suffered his fatal heart attack at a Los Angeles-area parking lot; he was also suffering from emphysema and hypertension. He was cremated and his ashes were placed within a columbarium in Calverton National Cemetery in New York's Suffolk County.
