Rune Bendixen, Writer and Director, with an extensive tracks record as a film director and producer, recording artist, record producer/re-mixer, trans-media-producer, comic book writer and TV creator, spanning over more than 25 years in the entertainment industry.
Rune Bendixen made music history when he released Scandinavia's first Techno singles with his band The Overlords. These singles soon lead to world fame with more than 3.000.000 units sold, extensive world touring and hit singles on Billboard, U.K and the rest of Europe. Rune Bendixen and his partner, Christian Johansson (Scarlet Johansson's brother), produced and re-mixed international artist like Billy Idol, Tracy Lords, UK number one band Blue Peal, Sven Vath (SNAP). Vince Clark (Depeche Mode) and US and UK number one hitter Billy Miles.
Rune Bendixen directed The Overlords' music videos and found a true passion for storytelling. He teamed up with writer/producer Kit Carson (Paris Texas, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and wrote, produced, and directed the American action movie Bullfighter for Scanbox/Universal with Willem Dafoe, Robert Rodrigues, Guillermo Del Toro, Jared Harris, and Donnie Wahlberg. Based on his work in Bullfighter Variety named Rune Bendixen as on of 10 Directors to Watch.
After 4 years in LA he moved back to Denmark to write, produce, and direct the two box office hits Rich Kids, and the highly popular children IP Bølle Bob, both for Disney. Bølle Bob has spun out two sequels, books, a musical and numerous records, and is ranked as of the most popular children IP's in Scandinavia next to Pipi, Emil and Brothers Lionsheart.
Rune Bendixen moved on to television to build the TV-production company BLU with Henrik Hancke and Per Zachariassen for Freemantel Media. The production company became market leader in Scandinavia with shows like Idol, X-Factor and You Got Talent. Rune Bendixen soon found his own international success as a creator of 20 TV-formats, among them are acclaimed shows like Topmodel, Smid Tøjet for Red Cross, Elle Style Awards and House Hunters.
In 2010 Rune Bendixen was headhunted by Aller Media, one of the largest Print House in Europe with more than 100.000.000 readers a month, to head the company's media innovation department and to build the company's new TV- and film department, Aller Visuals. With clients such as Audi, Mercedes, Pandora, Toyota and Elle Magazine and more than 2500 commercial in less than two years Aller Visuals soon became one of Scandinavia's leading commercial production companies.
As head of Aller Innovation Rune Bendixen developed brand extensions for 35 of the most iconic print brands in Scandinavia. He was the mastermind behind digital products like Royalista, CelebQuiz and the no#1 on US App-store WordFeud. In 2015 The Overlords signed a world wide record deal with Universal Records to digitize The Overlords immense back catalog and release new remixes of previous tracks. Among the remixes are renowned artist like Vince Clarke, Youth, Liquid Gold and many others. The remixes was an instant success, spinning a number of number one singles on the Europe's leading download services like BeatPort and JunoDownloads.
In 2015 Rune Bendixen founded the trans-media production house, Gunpowder Studios, with long time writing partner Jean Pierre Margo. Gunpowder Studio has developed the critical acclaimed comic book series Agent 47: Birth of the Hitman, released worldwide though Dynamite Entertainment. The comic book is based on the popular computer game Hitman.
