Was given a TV memorial special program, broadcast on the U.K's Channel 4 (as the network was known at the time).
It was called 'Beaton But Unbowed'.
It included clips of Norman Beaton from many program's and stills from stage work, including "Desmond's", "Empire Road" and "BBC Breakfast Time". The memorial was presented by Author and Social Commentator Darcus Howe and included interviews with Ram John Holder, Mustapha Matura, Sol Ray, Humphrey Barclay, Brian Bovell and many of his 'Desmond's' fellow cast members attended the memorial, apart from his on-screen wife Carmen Munroe, who was out of the country at the time.
