Judy Bauerlein was born the 10th of 11 children into a family of artists, musicians, and activists. She grew up in Philadelphia and attended Temple University before moving to NYC to embark on a 30-year career as a regional theatre actress, performing in theaters such as the La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Repertory, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Cornerstone Theatre, La Mama, and the Joseph Papp Public Theatre. As a film actress she is known for her work on Deconstructing Harry, Diary of a City Priest, and Drunks. She's worked with Woody Allen, Robin Williams, Marylouise Burke, Alison Maclean, Gary Lennon, and Billy Crudup. She holds a Ph.D. in Dramatic Literature from UC Santa Barbara and is the chair of Theatre at CSU San Marcos. She lives with her 13-year-old son in Southern California and West Philadelphia.
