Bruno was born in São Paulo, Brazil; he is the youngest of five
siblings. By the time he learned how to read he was already working as
a model and doing TV commercials in Brazil. In 1965 he started acting
in amateur theater under the direction of Iacov Hillel in São Paulo,
Brazil.
His professional career began on stage in 1970 with the debut of "O Comprador de Fazendas" directed by Dulcina de Morais at the Anchieta Theater in São Paulo. Bruno worked with some of the best theater directors in Brazil Oswaldo Mendes, Ana Maria Dias, Irineu Cirqueira, Artiro Rico e Geraldo Viere. By his early 20s Bruno was already famous in the Theater circle. During his career he performed in over 30 plays, and over 40 children's plays.
Bruno Barroso is a prolific theater actor, director and producer in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He founded the "Pavilhão B30" in the Communication and Arts department of the University of São Paulo, USP. Bruno also founded the "Grupo Timol Teatro Infantil Monteiro Lobato", which is a children's theater group in São Paulo. He also appeared in the last play showcased at the Leopoldo Froes Theater in São Paulo before its doors were closed permanently.
Although Bruno is an avid theater actor where he toured the most renowned theaters around Brazil, he also appeared in several TV shows, soap operas, miniseries and films throughout his career in Brazil. Unfortunately, most of the programs are not yet listed on IMDb. Bruno was part of a generation of actors that became stars in Brazil. For Bruno there was only one place for him, the theater and he always remained faithful to it.
Unfortunately, his fans watched him disappear into early retirement in 1992. Bruno retired by choice, he wanted to experience some peace and quite, after all he had been working since he was 5 years old! The dropped from the face of the earth and moved to Recife (northern part of Brazil), after he fell in love with the city during his first visit.
His fans still hope Bruno will soon decide to come out of this hiding and return to the stage or even TV, since he is still very young (Brazilians fans don't discriminate against their actors for aging). Let's just cross our finger that he will come out real soon!
