Paul Barkin

Over the past two decades, Paul Barkin has been actively producing feature films through his company Alcina Pictures. An award winning producer and champion of director driven and first time filmmakers, Paul has produced an array of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films for the last 20 years. Selected credits include Cherien Dabis' Sundance and Cannes entry AMREEKA, nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards including Best Picture, Bruce McDonald's multi-faceted, award-winning THE TRACEY FRAGMENTS, Su Rynard's Alfred P. Sloan Prize winner KARDIA, Jeff Renfroe's ice-age apocalypse THE COLONY starring Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton, Nordic revenge thriller HEVN by Kjersti Steinsbø, Jasmin Mozafarri's 2018 TIFF Discovery & Top Ten film FIRECRACKERS, and most recently Danis Goulet's Indigenous sci-fi debut NIGHT RAIDERS, which premiered at Berlin, TIFF, and nominated for 11 Canadian Screen Awards. Upcoming projects include Jason Buxton's (Blackbird) SHARP CORNER, based on Russell Wangersky's Giller short-listed collection Whirl Away, shooting in Nova Scotia fall 2022.
