"Do you really think he's going to keep looking for you after this?" Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for MobKing, a trashy crime thriller from Florida made by a Cuban-American filmmaker known as Jorge "Jokes" Yanes. You might be surprised to learn that the film is about a mob king. Ciro Dapagio plays Mike White, who returns from a lengthy prison sentence to a world changed drastically by tech, with a mindset of just trying to live a normal life running his club and taking care of his family. However, this dogmatically loyal crime family soldier quickly realizes that he's the target of the very organization he's remained blindly devoted to all of his life. Now, thrust into a kill or be killed situation, he faces a dilemma: get out and stay out or fight and reclaim what's rightfully his. The film's ensemble cast includes Robert Lasardo, Oksana Lada,...

This episode contains major spoilers for "Succession" season 4 episode 2.
In the latest episode of "Succession" season 4, "The Rehearsal," love was not in the air. Connor (Alan Ruck) and Willa's (Justine Lupe) rehearsal ended with the premature departure of the bride-to-be. Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) are still on the road to divorce too.
Shiv made it official in the season 4 premiere, "The Munsters," but divorce was the only way the Roy-Wambsgans marriage was ever going to end. Back in season 1, Shiv tried to pressure Tom into an open marriage. In the season 2 finale, "This Is Not For Tears," Tom pondered to Shiv, "I wonder if the sad I'd be without you would be less than the sad I get from being with you." Season 3 was all about their relationship falling apart — neither partner was able to meet the other's emotional needs — and Tom ultimately betrayed Shiv to Logan...

Exclusive: Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead) has joined Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson, Tony Award nominee Thomas Sadoski and Josh Lucas in the cast of Lilly, the political thriller co-written and directed by Rachel Feldman, which is currently in production in Georgia.
Based on the life of Lilly Ledbetter, the Alabama woman for whom President Obama named his first piece of legislation—The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act of 2009—the film explores the psychological cost of putting one’s life on the line for justice. At the heart of the social justice drama is a love story between Lilly (Clarkson) and her husband Charles (Lucas), a man who stood by his wife despite life-threatening challenges and significant family strife.
McDermitt will play the ambitious and unethical Alabama Congressman Dan McGinty. As previously announced, Sadoski is portraying Jon Goldfarb, the Birmingham civil rights attorney who navigated Ledbetter’s legal battles.

It’s time for the punks to meet the godfathers. The creators of SopranosCon merged with MobMovieCon for a family celebration. From July 23 to July 25, Harrah’s Resort & Casino in Atlantic City will house the boardwalk’s biggest gangster gathering since Nucky Johnson hosted the mob’s Atlantic City Conference in 1929.
“Al Capone will not be coming though,” VirtualCons CEO Michael Mota tells Den of Geek. “Those were the mobsters. I would say this would be the biggest gathering of mobster wannabes.” The Sopranos fan convention has come a long way since it was dreamed up by three gangster movie aficionados from New York, Maryland, and Rhode Island. The 2019 SopranosCon drew thousands of fans from as far as The Netherlands and the United Kingdom to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus. A planned expansion to MobMovieCon had to be pushed back because of the pandemic, but the organizers introduced VirtualCons...

See a new click from Samuel Goldwyn Films' "Cold Souls," starring Paul Giamatti, Dina Korzun, Emily Watson, David Strathairn, Katheryn Winnick, Lauren Ambrose, Boris Kievsky, Oksana Lada and Natalia Zvereva. Sophie Barthes directs and writes the film produced by Elizabeth Giamatti, Daniel Carey, Andrij Parekh and Jeremy Kipp Walker. In response to shiny, bigger, better American consumerism comes Cold Souls, a surreal comedy in which souls can be extracted and traded as commodities. Balancing on a tightrope between deadpan humor and pathos, and reality and fantasy, the film presents Paul Giamatti as himself, agonizing over his interpretation of Uncle Vanya. Paralyzed by anxiety, he stumbles upon a solution via...

The Sundance Film Festival officially announced the lineup for the films playing in competition next month. The 16 movies will compete for the Grand Jury Prize in Park City, Utah at the 25th anniversary of the largest independent film festival in the U.S. from January 15-25.
The list was announced by festival director Geoff Gilmore, who recently received the first annual Sydney Pollack Award.
At the bottom of the page is a full list with synopsis and partial cast lists, but I wanted to focus on a few of the titles that stand out. Alphabetical order with omissions of films I don’t care about yet:
Arlen Faber - A single mother and a man out of rehab intrude into the life of a reclusive author, played by Jeff Daniels. He’s my other favorite Jeff, but I also like young actresses Kat Dennings and Olivia Thirlby.
