- Julia Arnall was a beautiful leading lady of the 1950s. Born Julia Ilse Hendrike Irmgard von Stein Liebenstein zu Bachfeld in 1928, she spent her childhood in Berlin where her father was an army officer. After the war ended she married a British Army officer, Desmond Arnall, who had been posted to Berlin. In 1950, she came to Britain with her husband and their son, Marcel. In 1952, their second son, Gabriel, was born.
She started her life as a model before becoming a Rank starlet. She appeared in bit parts in a few films before starring in the film Tears for Simon (1956), which was released in 1956 and was considered to be a reasonable film. The Rank Organisation dropped her soon afterward. She continued acting, appearing in a few television episodes, including, The Saint (1962) and Emergency-Ward 10 (1957). In 1956, she and Arnall divorced. She later remarried to Robert Ottaway, a film, television, and jazz critic.
