Ready to kick some asteroid? Sony and Gramercy Pictures have launched the latest clip for Ratchet & Clank, shedding light on how the swashbuckling twosome came to be in the first place.
Set to arrive at the tail-end of April – two short weeks after Insomniac’s rebooted video game marches onto PlayStation 4 – Ratchet & Clank is a cinematic origins story that introduces the fiercest heroes in all the galaxy. Voiced by industry veteran James Arnold Taylor, Ratchet is a charismatic Lombax that spearheads the Galactic Rangers, a crack team of guardians tasked with defending the Solona galaxy.
Joining forces with his trusty – and wonderfully sarcastic – robot Clank (voiced by David Kaye), Ratchet & Clank will have our band of heroes locking horns with Chairman Drek, a galactic menace hellbent on raining down chaos on each and every planet in the entire Solona system. Also on board for the space-faring romp are Paul Giamatti,...

Across three decades, 10 canonical titles and countless cinematic easter eggs, Metal Gear creator and celebrated Game Designer Hideo Kojima is a master of craft when it comes to layering intricate and complex narratives with fun moments of fan service.
So, when the opportunity presented itself for Kojima to be included in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the auteur simply couldn’t resist. Granted, it’s a very, very minor shoutout, though we imagine that’s exactly the kind of nod Kojima-san would have wanted.

The official list of voice cameos from the latest Star Wars film has been released - so just who did Kevin Smith play, for one?
As Star Wars: The Force Awakens closes in on the $2 billion global box-office mark just over a month after its release, some interesting tidbits have been released regarding the identities behind the array of uncredited voice cameos in the film.
StarWars.com has released an official list of the names behind the various voice cameos spread throughout the film. While the reveals were not Earth-shattering, they actually did manage to clear up a misconception regarding one intriguing enigma in the Resistance pilot, Ello Asty. There had been suggestions that a voice cameo from Kevin Smith was hidden in The Force Awakens, and speculation pointed to him being behind the character’s (all-too-brief) lines. However, it seems that it was really repertory Star Wars voice talent,...

We recently learned which stormtrooper Daniel Craig suited up as in Star Wars: The Force Awaken, but there are even more intriguing cameos that you may have missed.
Minor Spoilers Ahead:
During the vision sequence when Rey comes in contact with Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber, we hear several whispering voices, including Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Well, James Arnold Taylor, who provides the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars was originally brought in to provide the voice of Obi-Wan in the sequence where you hear the character's voice say “Rey.” Turn’s out J.J. Abrams didn’t end up using his voice in the final product that we all saw. His voice was replaced by Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness.
The news was revealed by Taylor himself when he was asked about it on Twitter. You can read those tweets below, then read quotes from Abrams confirming that the voices of McGregor,...

Even if you're not familiar with the name, you'll know James Arnold Taylor's voice from his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars animated series. He and a number of other voice actors familiar with the Star Wars Universe (including Sam Witwer and Catherine Taber) provided vocals for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it turns out that Taylor's line as Obi-Wan was replaced when J.J. Abrams brought in the real deal; Ewan McGregor! That's right, the actor from the Star Wars prequels was the one who says "Rey" during the vision she has after touching Luke's lightsaber: @maxreborules it was me originally but they replaced me with some guy named Ewan McSomething...

'Saint Joan': Constance Cummings as the George Bernard Shaw heroine. Constance Cummings on stage: From sex-change farce and Emma Bovary to Juliet and 'Saint Joan' (See previous post: “Constance Cummings: Frank Capra, Mae West and Columbia Lawsuit.”) In the mid-1930s, Constance Cummings landed the title roles in two of husband Benn W. She ends up killing him – or does she? Hey ComicMixers! It’s time for more news from Sdcc. W00t!
While at the San Diego Comic-Con, I was happy to get to see the panel for I Know That Voice, the new documentary about voice actors that is slated to come out this fall (and don’t forget to visit that link and sign up for DVD pre-order news!). The panel was moderated by executive producer John Dimaggio, voice of Bender Bending Rodriguez on Futurama and Jake on Adventure Time (and many other voices as well!). It featured Iktv producer Tommy Reid; co-producer and director Lawrence (Larry) Shapiro; voice actors Rob Paulsen, Dee Bradley Baker, Fred Tatasciore, James Arnold Taylor, and Tom Kenny; casting director Andrea Romano; and Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward. And it was a blast!
I’ve talked about how excited I am for this documentary before, and this panel definitely highlighted the reasons I am looking forward to it.

"Teen Wolf" Season 3 is a bit disjointed. Can Christian Taylor, former head writer of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," help bring things together in Episode 3.06, "Motel California"? One surprise for fans he brought together for the ep is a pair of "Clone Wars" co-stars!
Taylor (pictured), who left “Clone Wars” to work on “Teen Wolf,” wrote and directed the next episode, which airs on Monday, July 8th, at 10 p.m. Et/Pt. He thought it would be a fun homage to use two of the actors from “Clone Wars” to record “ghost voices” in the motel so keep your ears open for James Arnold Taylor (“Obi Wan Kenobi”) and Ashley Eckstein (“Ahsoka Tano”).
Now, what of these Alphas mentioned in the headline? Check out this video featurette in which the members of Deucalion's Alpha Pack discuss what each brings to the group.

What if? Always a fun question. What if Superman were real? What if Tony Stark existed? We're big fans of Ted Talks anyway, but Ted Ed recently featured an excellent six-part video series that ponders: "what if superpowers were real?" It's not just a cheesy investigation into capes, the videos actually delve into the real world implications of superhuman abilities, ranging from invincibility to immortality to super strength and speed. The segments were put together by Joy Lin, an educator from Texas, with voiceover by James Arnold Taylor explaining the "scientific and logical fallacies inherent to six highly desired superpowers." These "what if" segments are not only fun and extremely fascinating, but considerably educational as well. The videos come from the Ted Blog (tip via @SdGeek). They really make you think about us and this world. Here are all seven videos, including the intro and one for each of the different powers they investigate.

Now this is how you announce a movie. Who cares about months of buzz and pages of acting shortlists, wrote the girl who writes about those things for a living, when you can just go ahead and tell people that you’ve made a movie by debuting a teaser trailer? And that’s exactly what the fine folks over at Insomniac Games have done to announce the first big screen adaptation of their popular Ratchet & Clank game. Sure, it’s easy to surprise everyone with a trailer when the whole thing is animated, is being overseen by its parent company, comes from a script by Tj Fixman (who has penned all the recent R&C game scripts), and is set to include voicework from all the game’s normal stars (including James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward), but still, this is one smooth move. The popular PlayStation video game franchise first debuted in 2002, and it...

Fans have been in uproar ever since the new Ninja Turtles was announced, with Michael Bay onboard to seemingly ruin it by eliminating their mutant origin and turning them into aliens, turning it into a Transformers with turtles. Co-creator of the Tmnt, Kevin Eastman, got to talking about the upcoming film, and seeks to sooth our souls and pump us up. See if it works:
Eastman: ”This will be a great Tmnt film…Much like many thirty year old concepts, the Tmnt’s have been re-invented a number of times, some were stronger than others, but if you look at what Viacom/Nickelodeon has done/allowed to happen with the new Tmnt animated TV series and the new Idw comic series, each has a slightly new and refreshed take on the ‘core concept,’ the new film with be the same, a film ‘well placed’ in the Tmnt lore the fans will enjoy.
