Ready to kick some asteroid? Sony and Gramercy Pictures have launched the latest clip for Ratchet & Clank, shedding light on how the swashbuckling twosome came to be in the first place.

Set to arrive at the tail-end of April – two short weeks after Insomniac’s rebooted video game marches onto PlayStation 4 – Ratchet & Clank is a cinematic origins story that introduces the fiercest heroes in all the galaxy. Voiced by industry veteran James Arnold Taylor, Ratchet is a charismatic Lombax that spearheads the Galactic Rangers, a crack team of guardians tasked with defending the Solona galaxy.

Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.

Directed by Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland, Ratchet and Clank features the voices of James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye; alongside the likes of Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion, Rosario Dawson as Elaris, Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek and John Goodman as Grimroth.

Ratchet and Clank is released in the UK on May 8th.

Exclusive: Distributor sets an April 29 release for the animation based on the video game franchise.

UK distributor Vertigo Releasing has picked up Ratchet & Clank, the animated film based on the popular PlayStation video games series.

James Arnold Taylor (Johnny Test), David Kaye (Up) and Jim Ward (Wall-e) lead the voice cast, which also includes Sylvester Stallone, Paul Giamatti and John Goodman.

The story sees the titular duo combatting the evil intentions of Chairman Drek, who plans to destroy every planet in the Solana Galaxy.

Rupert Preston of Vertigo and Edward Noeltner from Cinema Management Group, who are handling international rights outside of the Us, conducted the deal.

The company has set a theatrical release for April 29, which is set to coincide with a new entry in the Ratchet & Clank video game series.

There are quite a few video game movies coming our way over the next few months, but the difference between this new batch and what has come before is that these upcoming movies promise to be something to get excited about. Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed and both shaping up to buck the trend of bad video game adaptions, but what may get there first is Ratchet & Clank, the big screen debut of Sony’s own incredibly delightful platformer that will no doubt go down a storm with the kiddies, and features an impressive voice cast including the game’s original Vo cast of James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward, swell as Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Rosario Dawson, and Sylvester Stallone. April is shaping up to be a major year for residents of the Solana Galaxy. Before Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland’s animated feature film shoots for theaters on April 29, developer Insomniac Games is releasing a rebooted version of Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 on April 12.

In anticipation of the former, Sony has rolled out a series of new images from Munroe and Cleland’s movie, teasing a grand, galactic adventure ahead for the beloved mascots. Electrified wrench in hand, it is James Arnold Taylor’s anthropomorphic Lombax that leads the charge as Ratchet, joined by his chirpy and sarcastic bot, Clank (voiced by David Kaye).

Across three decades, 10 canonical titles and countless cinematic easter eggs, Metal Gear creator and celebrated Game Designer Hideo Kojima is a master of craft when it comes to layering intricate and complex narratives with fun moments of fan service.

The official list of voice cameos from the latest Star Wars film has been released - so just who did Kevin Smith play, for one?

As Star Wars: The Force Awakens closes in on the $2 billion global box-office mark just over a month after its release, some interesting tidbits have been released regarding the identities behind the array of uncredited voice cameos in the film.

StarWars.com has released an official list of the names behind the various voice cameos spread throughout the film. While the reveals were not Earth-shattering, they actually did manage to clear up a misconception regarding one intriguing enigma in the Resistance pilot, Ello Asty. There had been suggestions that a voice cameo from Kevin Smith was hidden in The Force Awakens, and speculation pointed to him being behind the character’s (all-too-brief) lines. During the vision sequence when Rey comes in contact with Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber, we hear several whispering voices, including Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Well, James Arnold Taylor, who provides the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars was originally brought in to provide the voice of Obi-Wan in the sequence where you hear the character's voice say “Rey.” Turn’s out J.J. Abrams didn’t end up using his voice in the final product that we all saw. His voice was replaced by Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness.

While at the San Diego Comic-Con, I was happy to get to see the panel for I Know That Voice, the new documentary about voice actors that is slated to come out this fall (and don’t forget to visit that link and sign up for DVD pre-order news!). The panel was moderated by executive producer John Dimaggio, voice of Bender Bending Rodriguez on Futurama and Jake on Adventure Time (and many other voices as well!). It featured Iktv producer Tommy Reid; co-producer and director Lawrence (Larry) Shapiro; voice actors Rob Paulsen, Dee Bradley Baker, Fred Tatasciore, James Arnold Taylor, and Tom Kenny; casting director Andrea Romano; and Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward. And it was a blast!

I’ve talked about how excited I am for this documentary before, and this panel definitely highlighted the reasons I am looking forward to it.

He thought it would be a fun homage to use two of the actors from “Clone Wars” to record “ghost voices” in the motel so keep your ears open for James Arnold Taylor (“Obi Wan Kenobi”) and Ashley Eckstein (“Ahsoka Tano”).‬

What if? Always a fun question. What if Superman were real? What if Tony Stark existed? We're big fans of Ted Talks anyway, but Ted Ed recently featured an excellent six-part video series that ponders: "what if superpowers were real?" It's not just a cheesy investigation into capes, the videos actually delve into the real world implications of superhuman abilities, ranging from invincibility to immortality to super strength and speed. The segments were put together by Joy Lin, an educator from Texas, with voiceover by James Arnold Taylor explaining the "scientific and logical fallacies inherent to six highly desired superpowers." These "what if" segments are not only fun and extremely fascinating, but considerably educational as well. The videos come from the Ted Blog (tip via @SdGeek).
