Another episode of Aew: Dark and another short(er) show post-Double or Nothing. We get six matches this week, running Shorter than last week’s four-match show… I guess we’re in for some squash matches? Let’s join Taz and Excalibur, commentators for Dark as usual, and see.
Match #1: Lance Archer vs. Aaron Solo
My Thoughts: What’s this? Solo doesn’t get thrown into the ring by Archer like most of his opponents And he manages to almost pin Archer too! Solo sold a “fear” of Archer well, trying his best to get the match over with as soon as possible. Of course that wasn’t going to work and Archer took control and got the win.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Christopher Daniels def. Steve Andrews
My Thoughts: Daniels gave Steve Andrews far too much room to get in his offence in this match. Far too much.

Timothée Chalamet and David Michôd on the set of ‘The King’.
David Michôd’s 2010 debut feature Animal Kingdom propelled him to international attention. But as that was happening, the writer-director wasn’t sure where to go next with his career: so many of the studios were shutting down their specialty divisions.
“Nobody was making those properly resourced, mid-budgeted movies for grown ups. And then Netflix arrived,” he tells If.
Michôd has since made two films for the streamer: 2017 Brad Pitt vehicle War Machine and the upcoming The King, starring Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton (who also co-wrote and co-produced the film with Michôd), Lily Rose Depp, Sean Harris, Robert Pattinson and Ben Mendelsohn.
The King premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September and is currently in limited theatrical release ahead of a launch on Netflix November 1. Last week, it garnered some 13 Aacta nominations.

#30 Vikaren (The Substitute) (2007)
Directed by Ole Bornedal
The Substitute sends a love-starved alien to terrorize a classroom of youngsters. Paprika Steen highlights the pic with a wickedly over-the-top performance in the title role. Danish director Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch) delivers a fun and nicely paced thriller fit for the whole family. As a throwback to classic 80s family films like Monster Squad and The Goonies, The Substitute is a whole lot of fun, and a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. Few critics gave the film the positive reviews it deserves, but hopefully in time it will find a cult audience. Special mention to the children, who are all brilliant, especially Jonas Wandschneider as Carl.
#29 The Hidden
Directed by Jack Sholder
Made by New Line at a time when the studio was known primarily for its early John Waters comedies and the Nightmare On Elm Street series, 1987′s The Hidden is a body switching,...
