- In May 1999, he was sentenced to nine months for supplying a small amount of cocaine and cannabis to Mazher Mahmood, an undercover reporter working for the Sunday tabloid The News of the World.
- In September 2000, he lost his appeal against his conviction for supplying drugs to a bogus Arab prince. He claimed that he was the victim of an unfair trial.
- In January 2006, he was banned from driving for 16 months after being arrested for drink-driving. Magistrates ordered him to pay a £150 fine and £100 costs.
- He is suing News Group Newspapers in relation to the phone hacking scandal, and them ruining his life and his acting career.
