He began his artistic career at the theater where he made his stage debut in 1881.

Although already 50 years old he had a positive attitude to the new arising film business in contrast to many other stage actors. He saw the possibility to express stories in a new way.

He was born as the son of the opera singer Ludwig Albes.

He already made his film debut both as an actor and director in 1911.

The actor and director Emil Albes was a very busy movie actor and director in the 10s who realised as many movies as an actor as he impersonated roles in movies.

As a director he realised a film serial with the figur Karlchen like "Karlchen bei der Feuerwehr" (1919), "Karlchen, das Dienstmädchen" (1199) and "Karlchen, der glückliche Erbe" (1919).

In 1891 he was able to realise his first play as a director at the theater in Göttingen and he carried this activity on in the following years too.

He began his artistic career at the theater where he made his stage debut in 1881. In the next years he appeared at many smaller theaters in Germany.

His last cinematical works came in the 20s into being.
