Eamonn Holmes has expressed his frustration about his treatment in the media landscape as a “white man in his sixties” in a new interview.
The broadcaster, who is an anchor on the Gb News weekday morning programme Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel, reflected on moments of his career in an episode of the podcast How to Be 60 with Kaye Adams.
Speaking about his exit from his Radio 5 programme in 2009, Holmes, 63, claimed that while his listenership ratings were “excellent”, an executive told him that the show was “attracting the wrong type of people”, and that they were pursuing a younger audience.
“You’re attracting older people, and we don’t want that,” Holmes claims he was told during a meeting with a production boss.
He continued his story by saying that he ended the meeting in an explicit fashion.

Loose Women viewers were left angered by a tense debate about the Nicola Bulley investigation.
On Thursday’s edition of the ITV show (16 February), the panellists discussed the police’s search for the missing mother, and whether they were right to share details about “significant issues” Ms Bulley had in her personal life.
Kéllé Bryan supported people’s questioning of the police’s handling of the case, stating: “I guess my personal issue is the trust for the police. I think people have every right to ask them questions.”
She said that she doesn’t encourage “keyboard warriors” to wade in, but “those who have an informed place, who have done their reading and done their research from what is available”.
However, Jane Moore had an issue with her co-star’s point, and, interrupting her, replied: “But from what’s available, that is not necessarily that is all that is available.

Kaye Adams celebrated her 60th birthday on Loose Women today (28 December), and admitted she had previously lied to her daughter about her age.
The TV presenter, who competed on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, said her daughter Charley only discovered her real age when her mother turned 50.
Fellow Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan said on the show: “You really had a serious block about admitting how old you were to the point your kids thought you were 10 years younger.”
To which Adams replied: “I feel ashamed. I was an older mum and felt a bit embarrassed with the younger mums at the school gates.
“But I took her [Charley] to a café after school and told her that mummy was 10 years older than I’d told her.
“I know it was bonkers, it was stupid.”

Skelton, who married Myler in 2013, accompanied the post with two broken heart emojis.
The TV presenter has now revealed she was initially not convinced Strictly would be a good idea for her – that was until her best friend intervened.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has voiced her regret over the latest elimination on the hit BBC dance series.
Last weekend, Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington were voted off the series after losing a dance-off to Bros star Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova.
Speaking on Wednesday night’s (5 October) instalment of The One Show, Ballas revealed that she thought the “far superior” contestant had gone.
“I just felt on the evening both couples made mistakes but the quality of Kaye was by far superior on that evening and I was absolutely mortified that she left, to be quite honest,” she said.
“I love my fellow judges and we’re all there to do a job, but in my opinion, that was one they didn’t quite get right.”
She continuted: “Sometimes I’m just delighted when they can agree and it’s not my job to send someone home.

Strictly Come Dancing star Kai Widdrington has opened up about competing against his girlfriend Nadiya Bychkova in the dance-off.
The British dancer was partnered with Kaye Adams on the new series of Strictly, with the couple the first to be eliminated from the competition on Sunday (2 October).
Adams and Widdrington faced off in the dance-off against Matt Goss and his partner Bychkova, with the judges choosing to save Goss and sending Adams home.
Appearing on It Takes Two on Monday (3 October), host Rylan Clark joked to Adams that while he’d usually focus on the celebrity’s experience in the dance-off, he wanted to know how it had been for Widdrington.
“There is a bit of an elephant in the room, isn’t there?” he said. “Because it wasn’t just you v Matt, it was Kai versus his lovely lady Nadiya. How was that when you got home?”

Strictly’s first eliminated celebrity has shared an awkward encounter she had hours after being booted off the BBC series.
On Saturday (1 October), this year’s Strictly Come Dancing celebrities hit the dance floor with their professional partners.
Despite footballer Tony Adams finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard, it was Loose Women host Kaye Adams who was sent home after a dance-off with Bros singer Matt Goss.
Speaking to co-host Tess Daly after the results were announced, Adams said she thought “it was the right result”.
After the episode was recorded, Adams went back to her hotel room to decompress, and decided to order some food.
Writing on Twitter, the presenter said: “Just ordered room service in my hotel. The nice lady who brought it asked me ‘any idea who went out of @bbcstrictly tonight?’ I said ‘me’. Awkward silence.”
The replies section was flooded with fans expressing sympathy...

Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens, with a new batch of contestants learning the art of ballroom dancing for the first time.
The BBC competition series returned on Saturday (24 September), with 15 celebrities hitting the dance floor with their pro partners for the first time.
It was a night of varying dance abilities, with Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin sharing the top spot on the leaderboard with an impressive 34 out of 40 marks each.
Tony Adams, meanwhile, is currently at the bottom end with just 15 poionts for his Arsenal-themed tango.
However, everything could still change during Saturday (1 October) night’s show, as the scores from last week will be added to the marks gained by the contestants for their second dances.
The new leaderboard will then be combined with the public votes, with the bottom two couples facing the dreaded dance off and the first couple leaving the competition.

Updated: Despite rumors that Stormy Daniels would be the big signing coup for the new season of “Celebrity Big Brother” in the U.K., the notorious porn star was not one of the 13 celebrities to enter the house on Thursday night’s launch show on Channel 5.
The Sun tabloid said that Daniels, who was allegedly paid off to keep quiet about a sexual encounter with Donald Trump, had been booked to go on the show for a record fee of £750,000 to appear for just a single week but that, after arriving in London, she made a last-minute demand for an extra £100,000, which was rebuffed. She then “refused” to appear, the newspaper said, quoting an anonymous source as saying producers “tried everything to persuade her to stay….Everything in the house was ready for her. To say it’s been a nightmare is an absolute understatement. Everyone is completely baffled.

The stars of Loose Women will pay tribute to Lynda Bellingham at the National Television Awards tonight (January 21).
Panellists Coleen Nolan, Kaye Adams, Linda Robson, Sherrie Hewson, Jane Moore, Janet Street Porter and Jamelia will wear black outfits with orange accessories, the colours of the charity Action Against Cancer.
Bellingham was heavily involved with the charity before her death in October. She died at the age of 66 following a battle with cancer.
Her husband, Michael Pattemore, has since become the charity's ambassador.
Nolan said: "Cancer affects so many lives and families and anything that might raise awareness of the work that these charities do is worthwhile.
"Lynda was such a fantastic Loose Woman and an incredible friend. She is always in our thoughts."
Pattemore added: "Lynda would be so proud to see so many people supporting Action Against Cancer, which is such a great charity... one day we will beat this disease.

A mortified Kaye Adams called into Loose Woman earlier today (October 7) to discuss her unfortunate wardrobe malfunction at the Pride of Britain Awards last night.
Adams attended the ceremony in a black dress which went sheer in the flash of the camera bulbs, revealing her white underwear underneath.
The 41-year-old TV presenter was asked by her fellow co-host Ruth Langsford whether she was hiding in a darkened room as a result, to which she joked: "I am calling you from a bunker in Outer Mongolia! I feel like Rihanna's granny!"
Complimenting Adams's figure, Langsford enthused: "I was so impressed that you had matching underwear - and this is a women that can wear her pants below her belly button without an ounce of fat hanging over.
"Have to say, you look great. You work out and it shows in those pictures."
On her outfit turning see-through, Adams added: "I could...

Denise Welch has hit out at Myleene Klass over comments she made about Loose Women.
Welch - who quit the ITV talk show in October last year following a row with producers over changes to the programme - took to Twitter to say how disappointed she was in Klass, who claimed the show was previously "too ranty and misogynistic" before she joined in January.
Klass had told the Daily Mail: "I love Loose Women. It's nice to be able to articulate and get things out there. But I feel it was getting a bit misogynistic, a bit post-menopausal or pre-menopausal and ranty.
"That's not how women should be represented so it's nice they've refreshed the panel and we can talk about politics, fashion designers and what else is going on in the week."
After reading the comments, Welch tweeted: "Disappointed @KlassMyleene @McGiff. Sadly ratings suggest most viewers don't agree with you.

Richard E Grant got up close and personal with the Loose Women panellists during his appearance on the show today (March 31).
The actor attempted to guess the perfumes being worn by Jamelia, Linda Robson, Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha while promoting the launch of his own fragrance Jack.
However, he only managed to guess Adams's perfume correctly, failing to identify the scents of her co-stars.
He will launch his fragrance - which he has previously described as his "signature in scent" - on Wednesday (April 2).
He told Digital Spy: "I don't think [other stars] make their own. They're not involved. I know what every single part of the process has been, what everything costs, where it's sourced from - I haven't just put my name to something somebody else has come up with. It's my signature in scent."

Loose Women is reportedly lining up a number of new faces to join its panel.
Denise Van Outen, The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes and actress Angela Griffin have all been linked with the show.
It is believed that ITV Daytime head Helen Warner wants to bring in the trio to attract younger viewers.
It has also been suggested that panelists such as Sally Lindsay, Janet Street Porter, Linda Robson and Sherrie Hewson will be required to appear on less shows.
"ITV bosses aren't impressed with the sliding viewing figures so bringing in younger, more diverse hosts is a gamble," a source told The Sun.
"They have been told that if this latest throw of the dice doesn't work then the show might not have a future."
Pop star Jamelia recently joined the show, alongside former panellists Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore and Colleen Nolan.

Coleen Nolan has revealed that she was motivated to return to Loose Women by the death of her sister Bernie in July.
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant explained that she quit the ITV show in 2011 to look after Bernie as she battled cancer, but believes the late singer would now be urging her to "get back out there".
Speaking on Lorraine ahead of her return to Loose Women this afternoon (October 7), Coleen said: "The last two and a half years have been so tough - just near the end of my stint on Loose Women before I decided to leave, it was all getting on top of me because I knew things that I couldn't share with them.
"Bernie didn't want them to know when it was all very private - so I was getting irritable, everything was getting on my nerves, little squabbles that women have or whatever.
