Father of Alida Chelli and composer Paolo Rustichelli, grandfather of TV host Simone Annicchiarico.
Graduated with a diploma in piano from Bologna Conservatory, subsequently studying composition at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome. Noted especially for his frequent collaboration on films by Pietro Germi.
