Taylor Sheridan might be sharpening his creative knives again. If the king of ranchland drama plans to end his epic saga on a triumphant note, he may have to send another major character packing (and not just to the train station). The Dutton family’s survival has always been a high-stakes game, but Sheridan’s knack for playing hardball might mean another jaw-dropping exit.

With Yellowstone’s future hanging by a thread, the showrunner seems ready to prove that winning sometimes requires a little sacrifice. Who’s next on the chopping block? Only Sheridan’s script knows, and it’s keeping quiet—for now.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “Yellowstone” Season 5, Episode 11, “Three Fifty-Three.”]
Here are a few recent scenes from “Yellowstone” that are absolutely, undeniably, without-a-doubt vital to Season 5: Beth (Kelly Reilly) learns Italian. Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) visits the phone store. Kayce (Luke Grimes) incapacitates a doctor to demonstrate how the human body works for another doctor. Tate (Brecken Merrill), well, pretty much everything Tate says at family dinner is dumb.
Now, despite my recurring complaints about bloat, I am not a plot purist — one of those joyless TV viewers who complains whenever there’s a stray sequence, scene, or spoken word that dares to exist for reasons beyond moving the A-story forward — and “Yellowstone” isn’t either. Taylor Sheridan’s hit show has long savored any extra time in the saddle, including many-a-music video-like sequence of cowboys cowboying, often set to one of the creator’s favorite country-rock tunes. Heck, the family dinner featuring Tate as...

Theres always that strange transition period in horror movies where things can get lost in the shuffle. The 70s and its nihilism broke late in the decade to swerve into masked killers and the slasher genre. That heyday was far shorter than people remember but the late 80s did something similar in transitioning to straight to video smash successes and a crazy number of sequels and adaptations. That well, too, would dry up, and when Wes Craven released Scream in 1996, the landscape would shift to smart slashers and then found footage. The teen slasher era was first with things like Urban Legend, Scream sequels, Disturbing Behavior, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and hell, even Final Destination posits literal death as a slasher villain. These are more along the lines of the top shelf example but one that could qualify for a best horror movie you never saw And...

[This story contains major spoilers from the third episode of season 5B of Yellowstone, “Three Fifty-Three.”]
Time caught up to itself in the latest episode of Yellowstone and, just as director Christina Voros and the cast have been promising, the drama that ensued was propulsive.
“Knowing that’s where we were going, it’s all made sense to me,” Voros tells The Hollywood Reporter of season 5B’s two timelines — the past and the present — merging with episode three, “Three Fifty-Three,” which aired Sunday. “Not knowing where it’s leading I think has left some people feeling like they don’t know where it’s leading — which is the point. You don’t understand the point until you get there.”

In the wake of Sunday night’s bloody episode of “Yellowstone,” director and executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros has revealed that the final three episodes of this season will lead to an ending — one that could be the final bow for the series.

While Kevin Costner has been pretty vocal about his love for Yellowstone, in which he played the Dutton patriarch for five seasons, the last half of season 5 might not sit well with the Horizon star. Not only does his character die within the opening moments of the back half of the final season, but Sheridan isn’t slowing down with the jabs at John Dutton, and in turn, Costner.

Considering the second half takes place months after Costner and Sheridan’s alleged feud, which garnered traction following the former’s departure, it appears the showrunner might still be salty about it.

Sunday night’s Yellowstone episode belonged to Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), the youngest son of patriarch John. There is a shocker of a death at the conclusion of tonight’s episode, as Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) is gunned down. She has been the lover of Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), the Montana Ag and dark sheep adopted son of the Dutton clan. After coming to Texas at the behest of the Dutton clan’s arch enemy Market Equities, she seduced Jamie into embracing her suggestion that the best way to get John Dutton’s Montana ranch is to have him killed and make it look like an accident.

Major spoilers for "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2 follow.
It's been coming -- and now that fans know how it happened, they're not happy. John Dutton's (Kevin Costner) death has been the big talking point of "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2, and the precise way the patriarch passes away has unfolded slowly. The very first episode of the block, "Desire Is All you Need," reveals that John is dead and presents his death as a suicide -- but soon, hints of a different cause of death start dropping. The episode titled "Three Fifty-Three" finally stops pulling punches and actually shows John's final moments. We see him asleep at the governor's mansion when three masked men enter the building, inject him with something, and stage a scenario that makes it seem like John shot himself. Later, the episode throws another wrench in the machinations when the person who ordered John's death, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri...

The final season of Yellowstone has upped the stakes significantly, with the most recent episode delving into the night of John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) death.
As viewers are well aware, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) gave the kill order at the request of her love interest, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).
Despite Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 11, filling in many blanks about the night of John’s demise, the explosive installment concluded with Sarah’s.
The development came after Grant (Matt Gerald) saw on the news that John’s death had been ruled a homicide, so Sarah was a loose end to him as the only person who knew what really happened that night.
Sarah had many flaws, but there are still questions about whether a thirst for power drove her decisions or whether she genuinely loved Jamie.
Either way, her death scene goes down as one of Yellowstone’s most shocking because...

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2, episode 11.
"Yellowstone" season 5 part 2 opens with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) lying dead next to a toilet. We're led to believe he took his own life, but it's later revealed that the ruthless Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), on behalf of Market Equities, put a hit out on him. Many "Yellowstone" fans have wanted to see Atwood get taken out of the picture since then, but viewers probably didn't expect it to happen in episode 11, "Three Fifty-Three."
The bad guys always get what's coming to them on "Yellowstone," but Atwood's sudden demise is pretty shocking as it was so unexpected. The grisly moment occurs after she gets into a fight with Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and storms out of his house. Shortly after, she is gunned down by assassins posing as lost drivers in the neighborhood, and the episode ends with Jamie crying on the phone.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from the Season 5, Episode 11 episode of “Yellowstone,” “Three Fifty-Three,” which premiered Sunday, Nov. 24 on Paramount Network.
Once it became clear that Kevin Costner wouldn’t return for the second half of Season 5 of “Yellowstone,” fans wondered how series creator Taylor Sheridan would write off his character, John Dutton. The split seemed less than amicable, including Costner saying he was unable to get on the same page with the rest of production about shooting schedules and even mentioning that legal action could come as a result of his departure.
But it’s hard to imagine fans imagining John Dutton’s farewell would go down like it did. Instead of a fitting send-off for the patriarch of the central family, it seems like Sheridan is trying to throw mud on the main character’s in-show legacy, while also needling Costner in real life.

The action in Yellowstone season 5 episode 11 begins in the daylight hours before John Dutton’s murder. For fans wondering if we’d see exactly what happened to the Dutton family patriarch, episode 11, “Three Fifty-Three,” answers that question.
Of course, Beth (Kelly Reilly) loves being with Rip (Cole Hauser), but she knows that one year of visiting him in Texas will drive her crazy. She wants to send Lloyd to take Rip’s place, but he won’t let her. His duty is to the ranch, even though he’d obviously rather be with his gorgeous wife.
Back at the ranch, Kayce (Luke Grimes), Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and Tate (Brecken Merrell) get to work moving their belongings into their new home. They each take turns adjusting a drawing on the wall, with Kayce sneaking in a final tweak after Monica warns him not to.

Last week’s episode tied up some loose ends, but this week’s “Yellowstone” is all about violence, as we finally see John’s murder go down, as well as the assassination of a troublesome favorite — all with some slaps and roughhousing in between. Let’s begin:
Why is Beth (Kelly Reilly) studying Italian? Lifelong learning is great, but it seems pretty random… “Must be that time of the month?” Shut up, Tate (Brecken Merrill) — don’t be misogynistic. Wow, we’re going to watch the strike team kill John (Kevin Costner), with night vision goggles and everything? Dark! I know it’s not the point, but it’s weird to see John in pajamas. I just assumed he slept in a cowboy hat and jeans. We’re...

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Yellowstone” Season 5, Episode 11.
Historically, “Yellowstone” has been at its most interesting, most explosive when the Duttons have had their backs up against the wall. Someone threatened their land or their livelihood, so they got a posse together and drove the attackers back.
In recent seasons though, that’s been easier said than done not just because they’ve been rustling with the evil Market Equities, but also because they’re trying to go up against the faceless enormity of the U.S. Government. It’s why John Dutton (Kevin Costner) became governor, and probably somewhat true to the experience of an actual rancher. But as a viewer, there’s just something kind of “meh” element to the Duttons trying to muddle their way through easements, eminent domain claims and estate tax issues.

Over the course of Yellowstone’s five seasons, Jamie Dutton has done a s–t-ton of terrible things. But portrayer Wes Bentley is still rooting for the black sheep of the family — and he’s not the only one, he tells TVLine. “I find it a lot, actually. Some people clearly see that he is a damaged person who is doing his best to meet what’s expected of him.”
And, it bears mentioning, to survive. Yes, the schemer conspired with girlfriend Sarah Atwood to have his father offed, but John was also plotting with daughter Beth to have Jamie killed.

If Rip Wheeler was a book, he’d be one of those old leather-bound ones that sit quietly on a shelf, never begging for attention, but when you open it, it’s filled with pages of raw emotion and secrets. Much like a cowboy who never needs to say much but lets his actions do all the talking, Rip is a man who doesn’t wear his past like a badge. In fact, he’s got so many layers, that you’d need a shovel to dig them all out, but Rip is not in the business of volunteering his life story.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.] Yellowstone‘s biggest burning question has been left lingering since Season 3: When will Rip find out what Jamie did to Beth? There are only four episodes left in the series, so if it’s going to happen (and it should), it needs to happen soon. Beth (Kelly Reilly) revealed in Season 3 Episode 5, “Cowboys and Dreamers,” that Jamie (Wes Bentley) committed an appalling act of betrayal when she was pregnant with Rip’s (Cole Hauser) child as a teenager. She went to her big brother for help to get an abortion, and he repaid her trust with a forced sterilization. He took her to Indian Health Services for the procedure. The staff told Jamie that when performing abortions, they were also required to sterilize the patient (forced sterilization is still legal in the U.S. today). Jamie agreed to this without telling Beth, and she didn’t learn until later.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has been one of the most surprising hits on TV. The game of succession and power struggle between the Montana-based Yellowstone Ranch owners, the Duttons, and the city lawyers and corporations who want to urbanize the area has received praise and criticism in equal order.
With the second part of the final season being aired earlier this week, the series’ brand as a conservative-appealing show has come into question again. Sheridan has disagreed with this label and has maintained that it is a story of the history of America. Yellowstone star Wes Bentley also seems to echo the sentiment.

When thinking of movies that made a mark in history, American Beauty definitely comes to mind. The 1999 film is still remembered today for exploring the search for deeper meaning in life and shining a light on male vulnerability. Wes Bentley was one of the actors who gained the most from the project, and ever since, his work has been highly praised and in demand.

What’s most interesting is that even after 25 years, he’s still closely associated with it. The actor is currently part of the cast of Yellowstone, one of the most popular series today, but what many people don’t know is that American Beauty played a key role in landing him that part. It seems Bentley is still reaping the rewards of the film to this day.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2.
Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are reportedly in talks to return for "Yellowstone" season 6, but nothing is set in stone yet regarding the future of Taylor Sheridan's hit neo-Western drama. Of course, it's also possible that the actors will star in something fresh, as "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2 is hinting at them leading the "6666" spin-off. Regardless of where the lovers Rip Wheeler (Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Reilly) end up, Reilly is interested in reprising her troubled character in some capacity -- and she has some ideas for storylines.
"I loved this season. There were some really different territories to explore, so I'm not clinging to her. I'm happy to put her back in her padlocked box," Reilly told Town & Country about playing Beth in a potential "Yellowstone" season 6. "I am definitely interested in Beth, and who she is after some things have happened.

Better believe that fans are raging over the latest ‘Yellowstone’ episode which saw Kevin Costner’s John Dutton die by a gunshot wound. The patriarch’s death was initially taken to be suicide until viewers realized that Dawn Olivieri’s Sarah Atwood – the girlfriend of John’s estranged son Jamie (Wes Bentley) – had hired a hitman to kill him.
While it marked the most viewed episode of the Paramount series so far, it is also perhaps the most negatively critiqued by fans. Some chose to see John’s death as resulting from Costner’s exit, but lead star Luke Grimes is here to tell us that it’s not essentially the case.

Yellowstone returned earlier this month with a polarizing twist that killed its leading man, John Dutton (Kevin Costner).
While John’s death perfectly set up the final episodes of Yellowstone Season 5, it was driven by Costner’s departure from the mega-hit drama amid unrest behind the scenes.
The series will now proceed without its lead, which has compelled many fans to draw some comparisons to HBO’s Succession.
The Brian Cox-fronted drama wrapped its four-season run in 2023, but its leading man was written out early in the season after his character, Logan Roy, died of a heart attack.
The aftermath focused on Logan’s children’s quest to take over the family business and outmaneuver everyone in their way.
Yellowstone seems to have a similar path forward, with vultures circling at every corner to take control of John’s land.
Fans think the similarities are now uncanny

Yellowstone’s landscape has changed forever with the death of the main character, John Dutton, and fans are not happy with the new view of the ranch.
Yellowstone’s patriarch, John Dutton, played by veteran actor Kevin Costner, died a gruesome death that has been labeled suicide in Season 5b, episode 9.
John’s death would happen eventually because of the sad fact that no one cheats death, but because of a dispute between Kevin Costner and the show, the death occurred prematurely.
It makes sense that a big star the size of Kevin Costner would want to greenlight his project; in this case, it was Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1.
Unfortunately, the Yellowstone filming schedule could not accommodate Kevin’s dream, and now, with John Dutton’s death, the fans are paying the price.

Yellowstone‘s never-ending plot twists and family politics have become so convoluted after five long seasons that the final 6 episodes may not be enough to salvage the show from certain doom. Add the latest episode of Yellowstone to the list of epic confrontations between Beth and Jamie Dutton.
The sibling rivalry at the core of the hit Paramount Network series from Taylor Sheridan has delivered some of the biggest gut-punches throughout the show’s seven-year run, particularly when the audience found out that when they were teenagers, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentely) helped a young Beth (Kelly Reilly) get an abortion at a clinic that performed forced sterilizations without her permission. Ramifications and complications are rife in Yellowstone’s The Apocalypse Of Change episode. So far: more questions than answers.
Spoilers Lie Ahead.
“This is suffer and survive. You will hate it here”
Reports from the US suggest that the ratings for last week’s return of Yellowstone – which I talked about here – drew in record ratings. All for a chapter of the story without its leading man. The novelty factor clearly kicks in of course, with many of us just wondering what Kevin Costner-less Yellowstone looks like. Now, the onus switches to how the story’s going to close out with the other five episodes of season 5.
The Apocalypse Of Change isn’t the most subtle of episode titles, not least because it’s more about talking about changes rather than making them. On the surface its opening looks quieter. Well, apart from an encounter with a rattlesnake to...

In last week’s episode of Yellowstone, viewers learned the unfortunate fate of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The police ruled his death as a suicide, but Beth (Kelly Reilly) knew better. Later on in part two’s opener, the audience was informed that it was Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) who hired a professional hitman (Grant Horton) to take care of the “future governor’s” little problem.
Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) did not share the same sentiment as his sister. In his heart, he sees Jamie (Wes Bentley) as a brother that he still loves. And it takes a sick and twisted soul to pull off a heinous act of this magnitude. He was not yet in the mindset to accuse his brother of such an atrocious deed. But all that has changed as more information comes to light about the Dutton heir.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 10, “The Apocalypse of Change.”] Luke Grimes told TV Insider ahead of the premiere of Yellowstone‘s final season that John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) fate forces Kayce to pick a side in the civil war between his siblings. The second episode of Season 5 Part 2 showed just that. Now, Kayce is more devastated than before, leaving the military veteran in a headspace that has Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merrill) on high alert. Before his father’s death, Kayce never saw Jamie (Wes Bentley) as an evil force like Beth (Kelly Reilly) always has. This perception was completely shattered after Beth confronted Jamie about their father’s demise in the November 17 episode. Jamie couldn’t look Beth in the eye when she demanded answers in his office, and he wouldn’t deny Beth’s accusation that he had a hand in their father’s death. Beth never...

[This story contains spoilers from the second episode of season 5B of Yellowstone.]
Yellowstone answered its largest looming question with last week’s season 5B premiere when the Paramount Network series revealed that departed cast member Kevin Costner’s John Dutton has died, the result of a murder-for-hire plot that is masqueraded as death by suicide. With its second episode in the mega-return of TV’s No. 1 series, Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan again wasted little time before delivering on the next highly anticipated moment: What will happen when warring siblings Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) come face to face?
Yellowstone viewers got that answer when the second episode returned to the present timeline and Jamie, Montana’s Attorney General, finds his sister waiting for him in his office. In her bones, Beth knows that Jamie is responsible for their father’s death, but she needed to look him in the eyes in order to get her proof. When...

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Yellowstone” Season 5, Episode 10.
After “Yellowstone” killed off its main character, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, you knew there’d be hell to pay. Not just with fans, who cried foul at what the show had done to their beloved patriarch, but on the screen, where the Dutton clan suspected who’d killed their father and were starting to bring their chickens home to roost. In this week’s episode, titled “The Apocalypse of Change,” viewers got to see the beginning of that process, brawls, tears and all.
The episode opens a little confusingly, with the ranch hands down in Texas dealing with rattlesnakes in Teeter’s (Jenifer Landon) tent and a bat-out-of-hell-like Beth (Kelly Reilly) coming to whisk Rip (Cole Hauser) away. It’s not really clear what time period you’re in — is Rip back in Texas post-funeral? Is this still six weeks...

Yellowstone fans are not ready to admit that their beloved patriarch is dead and not coming back to fix things on the ranch.

Kevin Costner’s departure from Yellowstone has caused a ripple among fans of the show and the other cast and crew since he was a massive part of it, even the backbone.
Fans know and understand that John Dutton would never willingly leave his ranch or his children by an act of his own will and that if his character were dead, it was murder.

There are so many characters to hate on Yellowstone, especially now that John Dutton is dead and the series is entering Season 5b, as Kevin Costner has exited.
Fans on Reddit have been calling for one character to get “taken out” during this season on Yellowstone.
Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), is the main villain that fans think of when they think of who they want to be taken to the train station and never seen again.
When someone goes to the train station, they get killed, although the euphemism implies that they are given a ticket out of town at the next railway station.
Jamie has caused Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly, so much trouble in her life that he can never do anything in this lifetime to fix things, but he isn’t the one fans want killed so soon in Season 5b.
Some could construe Beth, who has fought...
