Award-winning writer/producer Steve Cubine is best known for the 2018 Primetime Emmy Award-winning series "Break A Hip," which starred Emmy-winner Christina Pickles and featured Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, Jim Rash, Priscilla Barnes, and Peri Gilpin. He is also the executive producer of the Humanitas Prize-winning series "The Disappointments."
With over 20 years of writing and producing experience, Cubine's feature film highlights have included the cult classic "Sordid Lives," a comedy written and directed by renowned playwright Del Shores which starred Bonnie Bedelia, Beau Bridges, Delta Burke, and Olivia Newton-John, "Lucky," starring Colin Hanks, Ari Graynor, Jeffrey Tambor, and Ann-Margret, and Miramar's "Our Very Own," written and directed by Cameron Watson, and starring Allison Janney, Cheryl Hines, Keith Carradine, Jason Ritter, Autumn Reeser, Hilarie Burton, Beth Grant, and Dale Dickey. Making its debut at the LA Film Festival, "Our Very Own" garnered a multitude of awards, including several film festival awards, an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Allison Janney, and Prism Award wins for Janney, Keith Carradine, Cubine, and the producing team.
A proud member of the DGA and The Television Academy, Cubine is also a novelist. His debut novel, Walking On Electric Air was published in 2010. He also writes the classic cinema blog, From Beneath The Hollywood Sign. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a degree in broadcast journalism.
