The horror landscape is filled to the brim with icons and mascots that were successful and failures. The big ones like Freddy, Jason, and Michale speak for themselves, hence only needing their first names mentioned here. You could even go another round with Pinhead, the Leprechaun or Leatherface for that matter. Looking down the aisle at the literal murderer’s row of horror movie villains, you can’t shake a stick without hitting some one-off baddies that were clearly meant for multi-movie stardom but due to box office or critical hate were relegated to one movie. I bet you thought when we started covering adaptations that we would be going to the Stephen King well more than a few times and believe me, we will. Today though, we are covering our second John Carpenter helmed adaptation after we discussed The Thing in the inaugural episode. While that one was pretty well known for being a more faithful adaptation of the book his hero Howard Hawks had adapted, not a lot of people may realize that They Live was sparked from a very short comic that adapted a very short story.

In last year’s Scream movie, which came to us from the filmmaking trio known as Radio Silence, there’s a moment where the characters realize the latest iteration of the Ghostface killer is “making a requel”. It breaks down like this: “You can’t just reboot a franchise from scratch anymore, but you can’t just do a straight sequel either. You’ve got to build something new. It’s got to be part of an on-going storyline. New main characters, yes, but supported by and related to legacy characters. Not quite a reboot, not quite a sequel.” Some prefer to term “legacyquel” over “requel”, but in a new interview with ComicBook.com Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett confirmed they’re planning to make an Escape from New York “requel”.

Update: Our friends at Bloody Disgusting have been able to confirm that Radio Silence is in early talks with 20th Century Fox about directing an Escape from New York project, but Kurt Russell has not been contacted at this time.

Today feels like a good day to revisit a horror classic, doesn’t it? Thankfully, we have a new episode of the Revisited video series to help us look back at a great one from director John Carpenter: the 1980 film The Fog (watch it Here). Check it out in the embed above!

For the last round of horror and sci-fi home media releases for the month of November, we have an eclectic array of titles coming home this week. Vinegar Syndrome is keeping busy with a handful of titles being released on Tuesday, including Deadly Games (aka Dial Code Santa Claus), Cemetery of Terror, Blood Games, Rest in Pieces, The Severed Arm, and Whodunit? (aka Island of Blood). Arrow Video has put together He Came from the Swamp: The William Grefé Collection, which exploitation fans will undoubtedly want to pick up, and if you missed it when it hit limited theaters earlier this year, now you can catch up with Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula.

Well, I hope you guys have been saving your pennies, because there are a lot of great horror and sci-fi titles coming home on March 14th. Scream Factory is giving Firestarter the Collector’s Edition treatment this week, and both Drive-In Massacre and The Skull are being resurrected in HD as well.

If you missed them during their theatrical runs late last year, both The Love Witch and Paul Verhoeven’s award-winning thriller Elle are getting Blu-ray / DVD releases this Tuesday, and Demon Seed is making its way to Blu-ray as well (which I highly recommend watching if you haven't).

Other notable home entertainment titles for March 14th include Passengers, Z Nation Season 3, Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word, Stray Bullets, and The Man Who Could Cheat Death.

Exclusive: Iffr reveals lineup and jury for programme focused on emerging filmmakers.

International Film Festival Rotterdam (Iffr) (25 Jan – 5 Feb) has announced the full line-up of its Bright Future programme, including the titles that will compete for the Bright Future Award.

The competition for the Bright Future Award 2017 consists of sixteen debut films, including Chinese documentary Children Are Not Afraid of Death, Children Are Afraid of Ghosts by Rong Guang Rong and Caroline Leone’s melancholy Brazilian road movie Pela Janela. Also competing are Belgian title Inside the Distance and German feature Self-Criticism Of A Bourgeois Dog.

The jury for the award will be made up of Italian film producer Marta Donzelli (Le Quattro Volte); Marleen Slot, Netherlands producer for Viking Film (Neon Bull) and chair of Film Producers Netherlands (Fpn); and Jean-Pierre Rehm, director of the French film festival Fid Marseille.

“Cheerleader Camp”, which has the alternate title “Bloody Pompoms”, is much better than some of the later slasher fare I have seen. The slasher boom was in the early 1980s but by the time the late 80s came around it seems the ideas were thin.

“Cheerleader Camp” feels like a strange version of “Friday the 13th” in many aspects. While I do like the movie as a whole, it does have its issues. It could also be that I have a soft spot for slasher films as they were the first...

There is something about getting a kick out of the sleazy celluloid cretins that feels rather intriguing. Whether these movie weasels are unctuous lawyers, abusive spouses or borderline bullies the concept of being a big screen weasel brings to mind some of the most colorful cast of conniving cohorts of misbehaving ever assembled. Okay…maybe that is a stretch as there are countless of other worthy weasels deserving of making a top ten list–probably even better known or notorious than the selection being presented currently.

Nevertheless, let’s check out the weasel-like wonders that movie audiences have learned to love or despise depending on the frame of mind in celebrating these shifty oddballs.

There are perhaps no more prolific actresses out there than horror icon Debbie Rochon. She has a list of credits to her name over 230 movies long and it's always growing. But she recently completed filming her directorial debut, Model Hunger, and can't wait to unleash it on the world.

Model Hunger stars Lynn Lowry, Tiffany Shepis, Carmine Capobianco, Brian Fortune, Michael Thurber, Aurelio Voltaire, Suzi Lorraine, Babette Bombshell, Geri Horn and Jayne Caswell. Rochon also enlisted the talents of well-known composer Henry Manfredini (who did extensive work on the Friday the 13th series) and a crew that she described as the best of the best for creating Model Hunger.

With such an extensive acting career, one wonders why Rochon never directed in the past as she's been in the entertainment business for most of her adult life. What finally triggered that desire to get her working on the other side of the camera?...

Dan Bilzerian, aka ‘Instagram’s Biggest Playboy,’ reportedly threw porn star Janice Griffith off a roof of a Hollywood mansion and into a pool on Wednesday, resulting in her broken foot.

Bilzerian, “Actor, Astronaught, A—hole,” is a millionaire, bad boy, poker player who reached Internet stardom with his Instagram account. On any given day, Bilzerian will share photos of himself cleaning his gun collection, looking at expensive cars and posing with scantily clad models while surrounded by bricks of cash. He has almost 1.5 million followers on the photo sharing site and has been hailed as the most interesting man on Instagram.

Bilzerian shared the photo above on Wednesday, April 23, before the accident occurred. Griffith can be seen posing in the background, completely naked and playing ping-pong, while Bilzerian sits at a table cleaning his guns.

“I hate cleaning guns, but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do [sic],” Bilzerian captioned the photo.

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliff is reinventing the time honored image of the mad scientist’s sidekick as a more refined Igor in the upcoming new interpretation of Frankenstein.

The character of Igor has become part of horror movie lore, thanks to horror film legend Bela Lugosi who played him in the Son of Frankenstein and the Ghost of Frankenstein (See picture above) as well as Marty Feldman who played the hilarious parody character Eye-Gore from Young Frankenstein. The first image that comes to mind of Igor is of a crazed, misshapen guy, dressed in peasant clothes. However, we’ll be getting a new interpretation of the character in director Paul McGuigan’s currently-filming Frankenstein.

Daniel Radcliff continues to distance himself from Harry Potter-type roles, and is taking on the part of Igor. However, he will be playing a more attractive and well-dressed version of the character.

Feature film competition five world premieres and four regional premieres, including multi award-winner In Bloom.

The Sarajevo Film Festival (Sff), running August 16-24, has announced the Feature, Short and Documentary Competition titles comprising 50 films.

Selectors and the Sff team viewed 750 films from the region, including 200 feature films, 150 documentaries and 400 short and animated films.

Across the three Competition sections are 15 world, seven international and 18 regional premieres.

The main competition will feature five world premieres including Carmen, the first feature by Romanian director Doru Nitescu.

It is a family drama co-written by Tudor Voican, known for Periferic and Medal of Honour. The Filmex Romania production stars Doru Ana from Principles of Life, Adrian Titieni from Child’s Pose and Maia Morgenstern.

Greek director Dimitris Bavellas’ debut feature Runaway Day is a black-and-white film exploring how young Greeks feel lost in modern day Athens, a city under financial occupation. It starts Maria Skoula from Wasted Youth.

What was your favorite scene from the episode?

Jim: I loved the final scene with Victor and Igor in his realm, the way everything was black and white except the heart that was from fairy tale realm.

Nick: Emma picking up that Hook was lying right away.

Christine: Henry and Charming at the stable was very sweet and normal. So unlike much of Storybrooke that it stood out for me.

Who would you pick as a love interest for Emma?
