- Birth namePhilip Charles Anglim
- Philip Anglim was born on February 11, 1952 in Oakland, California, USA. He is an actor, known for Haunted Summer (1988), The Thorn Birds (1983) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993).
- Has appeared at a few Star Trek conventions given his popularity in the recurring role of Vedek Bareil, the beloved Bajoran spiritual leader on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".
- Operating a cattle farm in Tennessee, he founded The Lewis County Children's Fund, a charity in 1992 to help the children of the community near his farm. LCCF provides funds for medical, dental, and other necessary care for youth in need of assistance, referred by the public health department.
- The San Francisco-bred Anglim had intended to become a veterinarian, but after a teacher asked him to appear in a play, he pursued English literature at Yale and continued in acting.
- Was nominated for Broadway's 1979 Tony Award as Best Actor (Play) for playing John Merrick, the title character, in "The Elephant Man," a role he recreated in the television version with the same name, The Elephant Man (1982).
- Graduated from Yale University with a degree in English Literature in 1973.
- That is the only real gratification an actor receives, that his work touched another person's life.
- My goal is to continue to find work that offers complexity and depth and truth, and to fulfill it to the very best of my ability.
