Accused has wrapped season 2, but how does each episode rank?
Accused returned to Fox this fall for another set of episodes with a unique formula. Each episode of the anthology features a different cast and story with a person on trial for a crime. As the episode goes on, flashbacks show what happened, and inevitably, the crime itself is never what it originally seemed.
Season 1 was a good success with 15 episodes, while this year was only 8. That was shorter yet still had a great bevy of guest stars, making it notable. Some can argue Season 2 wasn’t as strong as the first year, and while there were great performances, not all the stories worked as well. Here’s how each episode of Accused Season 2 ranks to show which belonged in the top tier for the show.

We finally have a complete cast list for Accused season 2, so here’s a look at who’s starring in the second season of the Fox hit!
Based on a British show, Accused premiered in 2023 on Fox and quickly became a success. The anthology series opens with a person on trial and flashbacks showing how they got to this point. The storylines are unique, with the crime often not what viewers expected and not always having a happy ending.
The show did well in the ratings and is set for a second season. It was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, with Fox deciding to hold it off until this fall. As with season 1, each episode features a brand new guest cast with a new storyline.
It is confirmed that Emmy winner Michael Chiklis, who starred in the pilot episode, will return for season 2 but in a different part. He...

The 2024 Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actress are Emily Blunt (“Oppenheimer”), Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), America Ferrera (“Barbie”), Jodie Foster (“Nyad”), and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”). Our odds currently indicate that Randolph (3/1) will emerge victorious, followed in order of likelihood by Blunt (4/1), Brooks (4/1), Ferrera (9/2), and Foster (9/2).
The only one of these five actresses with any previous Oscar bids to her name is Foster, who is also this year’s oldest nominee by two full decades. Before she bagged two lead trophies for “The Accused” (1989) and “The Silence of the Lambs” (1992), she broke through at age 14 with a supporting mention for “Taxi Driver” (1977), becoming the seventh youngest Oscar-nominated performer at the time. Since 47 years separate her first and second featured notices, she now holds the record for longest span between consecutive bids in a single acting category.

Many gangland parodies fall flat, but not Jonathan Demme’s marvelous combo of high spirits and murder. Mafia spouse Angela de Marco’s story is goofy comedy with an edge of economic reality: how does one newly-impoverished New Yawk dame make a living for her orphaned son, while avoiding the adulterous attentions of the Big Boss who had her husband iced? Michelle Pfeiffer came into her own, Dean Stockwell has his best adult role and Matthew Modine is uniquely charming as an amorous FBI agent. The tonal balance is abetted by a supporting performances that go every which way: Mercedes Ruehl, Alec Baldwin, Oliver Platt and a slew of Demme regulars. Plus a music score by David Byrne. The disc features three new video interviews.

The Supporting Actress Smackdown series picks an Oscar vintage -- 1991 this time -- and explores.
The Nominees Oscar went with two sentimental favourite veterans (Jessica Tandy and Diane Ladd) and three first-timers who were having hard-to-ignore years. This shortlist was full of characters: a chatterbox octogenarian, an agressively needy video store owner, a sexually mercurial teenager, a monstrous southern matriarch, and a proto-feminist in the deep south.
The Panel Here to talk about the performances and films are, in alpha order, entertainment journalist Mark Harris ("Pictures at a Revolution", "Five Came Back"), Tony winning actress Nikki M James (The Book of Mormon, The Good Fight), Tony nominated actor Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon, Hamilton), Vanity Fair's deputy editor Katey Rich, Drama Desk winning actor Nick Westrate (Casa Valentina, Turn: Washington's Spies), and your host at The Film Experience, Nathaniel R. Hey,"Bull" fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys in this article. For some reason, CBS will not be airing the new episode 8 of this current season 4 tonight, November 11, 2019. The good news is that this delay will only be for this week. You guys can expect to see the new episode 8 air next Monday night, November 18, 2019 at approximately 9 pm central standard time on CBS of course. So, definitely be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. So, what is CBS airing tonight instead of "Bull?" That is a very good question, and we do have an answer for it. According to the TV guide listings, CBS is actually airing an episode of "Bull." It just won't be a new episode. They're airing a dreaded rerun or repeat episode. The repeat episode they are airing is the 16th episode of last season 3. This episode is titled,...

Imagine you’re invited to some netherworld, Southern Gothic-themed cocktail party peopled with Tennessee Williams heroines. There’s Amanda Wingfield and Blanche DuBois competing for pity with wilted stories of glory days, Maggie the Cat in her slip, stalking waiters, and lusty Maxine walking a leashed iguana and a cabana boy or two. Even among this look-at-me bunch, The Rose Tattoo‘s Serafina Delle Rose would be a spectacle, the brash, loud and vulgar center of attention outtalking everyone else, bragging about her long-dead husband’s bedroom talents, how the two got those colored lights going like even Stanley Kowalski would envy.
Now imagine Serafina portrayed by Marisa Tomei in prodigious Cousin Vinny Oscar-getting mode, and you’ll maybe get a sense of director Trip Cullman’s tonally raucous production of The Rose Tattoo, opening on Broadway tonight in a Roundabout Theatre Company presentation at American Airlines Theatre.

One of most awaited movies of the season, writer-director Lorene Scafaria?s Hustlers, is a comedy-drama that follows a crew of savvy strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.
With all the right ingredients for a blockbuster, the movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is opening nationwide this Friday.
At its heart, for Scafaria, ?We?re presenting a world we may have seen in many movies and TV shows, but from a different perspective ? that of the dancers. It?s an epic mix of crime drama, stripper movie, and an exploration of the economic upheaval that upended the lives of so many, including our characters?.
Jessica Pressler?s article was a compelling story of fascinating characters who are constantly facing judgment and living with a stigma about their profession and about deep friendships that can sometimes get you into trouble.

A year ago, “Hustlers” hung in the balance: After it was picked up by Annapurna Pictures in the spring of 2016, Megan Ellison’s indie studio dropped the fact-based project as it went into production. While the Lorene Scafaria-directed stripper drama had some major star power behind it, including Jennifer Lopez (set to both star in and produce the film) and the strength of the female-focused Gloria Sanchez Productions (an offshoot of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions), Annapurna balked, leaving the team scrambling for a producer and distributor. Stx Entertainment jumped at the chance, and now, “Hustlers” is a hit.
In its first weekend of release, Scafaria’s film has already crushed a number of key records, giving Stx its best opening ever, in addition to wracking up the best opening for a female-directed film in two-and-a-half years (since smash hit “Wonder Woman”). Even when facing...

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for “Hustlers.”]
Lorene Scafaria’s fact-based “Hustlers” is crammed with some serious star power, from leadsJennifer Lopez and Constance Wu to a stacked supporting cast that includes Cardi B, Lizzo, Trace Lysette, Keke Palmer, Mercedes Ruehl, Lili Reinhart, and Madeline Brewer, but the girl-powered stripper dramedy also includes one major male star among its ranks. Based on Jessica Pressler’s viral New York magazine story “The Hustlers at Scores,” Scafaria’s third film follows the eponymous hustlers at a Manhattan strip club as they move from pole dancing to glorified pickpocketing during an uneasy time in the American economy.
Set both before and after the financial crisis of the mid-aughts, “Hustlers” entertainingly dramatizes both the high-on-the-hog pre-collapse years at the club and what happens after (read: situations tough enough to make the hard-working ladies turn to crime to survive). In the middle of that shift between very different timelines, Scafaria finds the...

Taika Waititi’s serio-comic”Jojo Rabbit” won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday (Sept. 15). This New Zealand director is a triple threat. He adapted Christine Leunens‘ novel “Caging Skies” and co-stars as Adolf Hitler, the imaginary friend of Jojo “Rabbit” Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis), a young boy whose mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in the attic. This crowd-pleaser will be released by Fox Searchlight on Oct. 18 just as awards season kicks into high gear.
While higher profile pictures played at bigger theaters multiple times, Tiff ensures there is fairness in the process by giving this award to the film that inspires the biggest percentage of its total audience to vote online. Second place went to Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story” (which also showcases Johansson) while Bong Joon-ho’s Cannes champ “Parasite” was third.
This win for “Jojo Rabbit” certainly raises its Oscar hopes.

Chicago – This striper crime caper is flashy, buffed to a high gloss, and more entertaining and watchable than it has any right to be. But it’s never quite as smart, or layered as it seems to think it is. Constance Wu from “Crazy Rich Asians” stars as the proverbial stripper with a heart of gold, Destiny.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
She’s just doing it to help take care of her grandma but finds that working the poll alone won’t pay the bills. At the New York Club modeled after the manhattan nightspot Scores, queen bee Jennifer Lopez takes her under her wing to show her the moves. This film is a sisterhood tale wrapped up in larceny and dollar bills. Lopez gets a meaty role tailor-made to her like a sequined bodysuit. It starts with Lopez showing Wu how to get into the VIP champagne room and milk the marks for all their worth.

“Hustlers,” the crime film based on a true story and starring Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez, earned $2.5 million at the box office Thursday in previews. It opens on 3,250 screens this weekend.
“Hustlers” comes from STX, and the film’s cast of pop stars and strong reviews and word of mouth out of the Toronto International Film Festival hope to boost the film to be the largest opening in STX's history. However, it has to contend with Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Goldfinch” and “It Chapter Two” as it heads into a massive second weekend.
The studio is projecting “Hustlers” to open in the mid-$20 million range, with independent trackers saying it could land between $25-28 million against an approximately $20 million budget. The hope is that it can topple STX’s highest opening to date, “Bad Moms,” which opened in July 2016 to $23.8 million after grossing $2 million in its Thursday previews.

An energetic entry in a current wave of what might be called Income Inequality Cinema — where the screwed-over working class fights for their piece of the 0.1% pie — “Hustlers” is an uneven but mostly entertaining tale of strippers exploiting their exploiters.
Based on Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine article about performers at New York City’s legendary Scores nightclub, the film represents a step up for director Lorene Scafaria, whose previous two theatrical features (“The Meddler” and “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”) were well-cast but emotionally unsatisfying.
And whereas “The Meddler” seemed to love gleaming surfaces for their own sake (the film often resembled an advertisement for The Grove shopping center in L.A.), “Hustlers” cinematographer Todd Banhazi (Janelle Monáe’s “Dirty Computer”) cannily intersperses the neon fantasy of the strip club and the magazine-spread sheen of upscale Manhattan apartments with a jolt of naturalist light...

For years, strippers have been depicted cinematically as damsels needing to be saved. In fact, movies have almost exclusively looked at sex workers as damaged individuals. Awards wise, it’s catnip for voters, by and large. The features themselves have been mostly heavy affairs, give or take something like Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite, which did actually win Mira Sorvino an Oscar. Magic Mike flipped the script a bit a few years ago and now we have Hustlers, which empowers strippers in a way that cinema has never seen before. In showcasing a determined group of women rebelling against not just toxic masculinity, but the elite as well, this is poised to be one of the surprise hits of 2019. The film is based on a true story, specifically a New York Magazine article that went viral a handful of years ago. We are first introduced to Destiny (Constance Wu), a...
