September has been a big month for Terry Crews, who this year marks 25 years in Hollywood, having gotten his start on the American Gladiators-style competition show Battle Dome in 1999. The role of T-Money perfectly aligned with the America’s Got Talent (AGT) host’s dream of one day being an action movie star, a goal which was once again realized with his part in longtime friend Dave Bautista’s action-comedy The Killer’s Game.
Crews stars as assassin Creighton Lovedahl in the J.J. Perry-directed film that released on Sept. 13 — Crews and Perry previously worked together on 2014’s The Expendables 3. Based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga, The Killer’s Game centers on a veteran assassin (Bautista) trying to outlive a hit he put out on himself after learning he incorrectly received a terminal diagnosis. The movie also stars Sofia Boutella and Ben Kingsley, actors of whom...

The list of guest stars who will voice characters in the Chris Rock animated comedy, Everybody Still Hates Chris, has been released and to say it is star-studded is an understatement! Check out the names, below.
The upcoming comedy Everybody Still Hates Chris is the most star-studded feature we’ve seen in a while! It is an animated series, so it is easier to accommodate big names compared to a live-action show, and it sure did take advantage of that fact! If you missed the report from Deadline, we’ve got all the details for you here.
The animated comedy from Chris Rock will follow stories inspired by Rock’s experiences growing up in Brooklyn, all narrated by Rock himself. It's a reboot of the animated series. Watch the trailer for it here.
Now, call us biased! But our favorite guest star from the list below is The Bear star Ayo Edebiri.

[This story contains spoilers from Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.]
Ellen DeGeneres is getting the last laugh.
With her latest (and apparently final) stand-up special now streaming on Netflix, the former daytime talk show host is addressing how she got “kicked out of show business” — and she’s milking it for laughs. But mixed in with the various punchlines are also moments of sincerity and genuine reflection. “I’m here because I love doing stand-up, and I miss doing stand-up, and I like making people happy, and I do care what people think,” she confesses at the top of the special, which is appropriately titled Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.
Lest you somehow missed the myriad headlines back in 2020, DeGeneres’ eponymous talk show was hit with toxic workplace allegations, which came on the heels of a series of personal swipes at DeGeneres herself. She’s claimed that neither was the reason that she ultimately ended the long-running show,...

Growing up is tough, especially during your teenage years. Your teens are an era when no one understands you; everyone thinks you’re overreacting, and hormones rage inside your nether region like a mosh pit of questions and embarrassing blunders. I grew up in New York, so I know what walking the Bed-Stuy streets is like while hoping to discover who you are. In Comedy Central‘s Everybody Still Hates Chris trailer, we join Chris Rock for a hilarious look at his awkward teens and all the confusion that helped shape one of the most recognized comedians in the game.
Everybody Still Hates Chris will feature Chris Rock as “Adult Chris,” narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s. Terry Crews (America’s Got Talent) will voice “Julius,” Chris’ father, who is a gentle giant...

The latter days of Upn, before it merged with The WB to become The CW, weren’t marked by many critical hits, but Everybody Hates Chris was one of them. The titular Chris was Chris Rock, who narrated the single-camera comedy about his life, starting when he turned 13, moved with his parents from New York housing projects to the Brooklyn neighborhood Bed-Stuy, and started attending a better school, far away in an all-white neighborhood. The show wasn’t coy about its influences: its title was a play on that of another long-running sitcom with a standup comic at its center, and the device of a sitcom narrator commenting on scenes of his childhood from later in life had been done decades earlier on The Wonder Years. When the time came for Everybody Hates Chris to end its run, it stole from the best, with a final scene directly inspired by...

To the joy of comedy fans, and the horror of families who were just looking for a nice cartoon about jazz-playing felines, the 2005 documentary The Aristocrats delved into the history of the notoriously filthy joke about a family pitching a vulgar stage show to a talent agent. While we all know the punchline — “The Aristocrats!” — it’s the uniquely grotesque nuances of each comedian’s version that makes the movie so interesting.
The Aristocrats featured interviews with some of the biggest names in comedy — from Chris Rock, to Sarah Silverman, to George Carlin. Also Carrot Top. But the most memorable version of the joke was probably the one told by the late Gilbert Gottfried. Note: The clip is not safe for work, unless you work in the talent agency from the joke.

Netflix is reportedly exploring new opportunities to expand its live television offerings. According toVariety, the streaming giant is currently in discussions with BuzzFeed about bringing live episodes of the popular YouTube series Hot Ones to its platform. Hosted by Sean Evans, Hot Ones has gained a huge following by challenging celebrities to answer questions while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings.
Celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Paul Rudd, Margot Robbie, and more have made memorable appearances on the show, making it a unique stop on the press tour circuit. Although negotiations are still in the early stages, Netflix is particularly interested in having Sean Evans host exclusive live episodes of Hot Ones tailored for its audience. As of now, no official deals have been made, and both Netflix and BuzzFeed have remained tight-lipped, declining to comment on the ongoing talks.

Natasha Rothwell has no fear of flying. With stamps on her passport from Turkey to Tokyo, the actress is completely at ease with the wheels up. She gets to the airport well ahead of takeoff (“being early is on time,” she says). On board, she loves a window seat and daydreams while gazing at the clouds. But she knows not all Black passengers feel as comfortable, due to persistent racial bias that’s a holdover from the Jim Crow era. So, wherever she lands, she goes out of her way...

Several A-listers were among the thousands who joined a livestreamed event Thursday, hosted by Oprah Winfrey, that united the many grassroots political groups supporting Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
At the beginning of the Unite For America call, Winfrey shouted out Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Tracee Ellis Ross and Bryan Cranston for Zooming in. She also highlighted the grassroots groups that have hosted their own Zoom events supporting Harris in recent months, including Win With Black Women, White Dudes for Harris, Win With Black Men, Republicans for Harris, Swifties for Kamala, among others.
After Harris replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket for the 2024 presidential race, grassroots groups have united Hollywood backers and people across the county who have tuned in for lengthy, celebrity-studded Zoom calls, raising millions for the vice president’s campaign.

Oprah Winfrey returned to the talk show format for an in-person and virtual event for Kamala Harris, interspersing emotion and uplift with infomercial appeals to organize for the vice president’s candidacy.
With an audience that included celebrity supporters such as Chris Rock, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep, the event in Farmington Hills, Mi was set up like Winfrey’s old powerhouse talk show, with taped segments interspersed with audience questions and some tearful testimonials.
Unlike Winfrey’s syndicated daytime talk show, the 90-minute event was unabashedly in support of Harris, with those in the audience who asked questions aligned with key campaign messaging priorities on the border, the economy and reproductive rights. Winfrey spoke at the Democratic National Convention in support of Harris, and in contrast to her previous presidential endorsements, has been more willing to criticize the rival. It would be perfectly reasonable to assume that debuting at the tail end of the most wildly unpredictable presidential election in modern times would provide Saturday Night Live with all of the drama it can handle as it celebrates its hotly anticipated 50th season. But drama often lurks behind the scenes, too, as it has with the will-he-or-won’t-he retirement rumors surrounding TV maestro Lorne Michaels. In the fall of 2020, it was Michaels who appeared on Sunday Today and revealed that the 50th season would be his last. “By that point, I think I really deserve to wander off,” he told host Willie Geist.
The comment, which he then doubled down on in subsequent interviews, prompted a tireless succession of media stories about who might replace him. Tina Fey’s name emerged, along with that of Seth Meyers, Colin Jost and Michael Che. Then something happened as the milestone season...

Ellen DeGeneres tells fans what she’s been up to lately in the trailer for her upcoming and final stand-up special for Netflix.
“Well, let me catch up on what’s been going on with me since you saw me last. I decided to take up gardening. I got chickens,” the comedian says in the For Your Approval first look that dropped on Wednesday.

Writing and directing a series is a rite of passage for any celebrated European filmmaker — so why shouldn’t Oscar winner Thomas Vinterberg follow in the footsteps of Ingmar Bergman and Rainer Werner Fassbinder? The Danish director, who won the Best International Feature Film Oscar for “Another Round” in 2021, was in Toronto to promote his new series, “Families Like Ours,” which first premiered in Venice alongside Alfonso Cuarón’s “Disclaimer” and Joe Wright’s “M. Son of the Century.” He spoke to IndieWire about his seven-episode television show, which finds Denmark in a state of environmental collapse, flooded by rising water levels as its citizens panic toward a way out. Denmark, like everywhere else, has been hit by storm surges in recent years, so this series is all too prescient in its imagining of a widespread catastrophe that would push its people out.

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are one of the most famous celebrity couples of all time. Both actors were at one point considered to be a proper Hollywood power couple, but due to one scandal after another and a seemingly fragile marriage, they became a pair known for their scandals more than for anything else.
We know how Jada publicly humiliated Will by talking about her affair to him in front of cameras, a PR move that everyone rightfully criticized, but while many thought that it would be the end, Will Smith remained with Jada and after everything, caused a massive scandal when he hit Chris Rock at the Oscars, resulting in him being banned.
He was even blacklisted for a while, and while he is slowly trying to revive his career (we’ll see how that goes for him), it seems that their marriage is not in a better place,...

Will Smith walked onto the stage at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night. Still, any tension associated with that name and the awards stage was quickly assuaged when he opened his mouth to accept the outstanding writing for a drama series award.
“First of all, relax. The crowd laughed at the callback to one of the most notorious moments in recent awards show history.

A surprised Will Smith, the veteran British comedy writer-producer who created and executive produces/showruns Apple TV+’s Slow Horses, started off his speech accepting the Emmy for Writing For a Drama Series by addressing what was on the minds of many TV viewers and ceremony attendees when his name was announced as the winner.
“First off, relax,” he said. “Despite my name, I come in peace.”
He was referring, of course, to the infamous incident at the 2022 Oscars when American actor Will Smith leaped to the stage and slapped presented Chris Rock after the latter made a Jada Pinkett Smith joke.
Slow Horses‘ Will Smith went on to thank author Mick Herron, on whose Slough House books the Apple TV+ spy thriller series is based. He also acknowledged the streamer’s Europe boss Jay Hunt, his team of writers. “and most of all, Gary Oldman and all of the actors” on the show.

As Netflix looks to bolster its live event programming, the streamer is in talks with BuzzFeed Inc. to stream live episodes of “Hot Ones,” TheWrap has learned.
While the negotiations are in the early stages, the scenario being discussed would see Sean Evans host several live episodes of the popular YouTube talk series created specifically for Netflix.
The show, which currently streams on Hulu and Peacock, puts celebrities in the hot seat as they eat increasingly spicy wings while being interviewed by Evans. Notable celebrities who have appeared include Sydney Sweeney, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Conan O’Brien, Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Lawrence, Paul Rudd, Vince Vaughn, Margot Robbie and Ariana Grande.
Netflix and BuzzFeed declined to comment.
The discussions come as Netflix has expanded its line-up of live programming in recent years as part of an effort to scale its ad tier and continue to grow its overall viewership and subscriber base.
While the negotiations are in the early stages, the scenario being discussed would see Sean Evans host several live episodes of the popular YouTube talk series created specifically for Netflix.

As a clip of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce belting the lyrics to The Darkness’ “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” began to go viral, the rock band’s frontman Justin Hawkins took to TikTok to divulge his own experience with the pop star’s music. In a 90-second video Monday, Hawkins described the “extraordinary” hospitality he received while attending the Eras Tour with his daughter and partner.
“There was a man on a golf buggy guiding us in to the main stadium,” Hawkins said. “They put us in a lovely VIP area.

In nearly a month Saturday Night Live (SNL) will be reaching 50 seasons. It's hard to believe that the time slot, filled with comedic performances by some of the best and most unforgettable performers and comedians, began way back in 1975.
There are so many actors and actresses who began their careers through SNL including Billy Crystal, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey, Chevy Chase, Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, and Robert Downey Jr. Who knows which celebrities will grace our television screens and movie theaters next.
As we approach the new season, we wanted to compile a list of actors who we'd love to see host SNL. Some may have appeared before, whereas others have never stepped foot upon the legendary stage.
Let's begin!
1. Matt Smith House of the Dragon season 2
From Doctor Who to House of the Dragon and The Crown, Matt Smith might seem initially like an odd choice for this list.

Today, everyone knows Marlon Wayans and his comedic family of brothers. Decades after they all got their big break on In Living Color, the actor dished on what finally led to his family leaving the show that essentially made them famous. So, what did he have to say?
Marlon Wayans Was One Of The Biggest Stars Of Comedy
Marlon Wayans still has an active career in the spotlight today, but, there’s no question that he reached his peak as a comedian and an actor from the late 90s to the early 2000s. It was during this period of time that Wayans starred in some of his biggest hits.
Some of Marlon Wayans’s most iconic roles include parts in White Chicks, alongside his brother, Shawn Wayans, Terry Crews, and more. There was also the spoof comedy/horror Scary Movie franchise, which resulted in several films in the early 2000s as well.

Thirty years after In Living Color ended, Marlon Wayans is opening up about why his family walked away from the Fox show that launched them into fame.
During a recent interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast, the actor-writer-producer got candid about his family’s exit from the ’90s sketch comedy show, created by his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans, after its fourth season.
“I remember when we left In Living Color because Fox was syndicating the show and it was hurting Keenen’s pockets,” Marlon told host Shannon Sharpe. “Keenen was like, ‘Nah, you ain’t gonna do this to me.’ My family said, ‘Fuck this money.’ And we all left In Living Color.”
The show, which ran from 1990 to 1994, also featured Marlon’s other siblings, Damon Wayans, Kim Wayans and Shawn Wayans, and helped launch the careers of several other Hollywood notables including Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx.

Jada Pinkett Smith is no stranger to controversy in the public eye, especially when it comes to her current relationship status with Will Smith. However, she recently made her Instagram private without warning. So, what prompted her to do this?
Jada Pinkett Smith Indirectly Involved With The Slap Heard Around The World
Will Smith has always been the “nice guy.” As a Hollywood leading man, he generally stars in films that are never too raunchy or in poor taste. In fact, he is one of those actors who are consistently up for Oscars based on his noteworthy performances.
However, that squeaky clean image that Will tried so hard to cultivate completely went out the window after Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. What happened next was “The Slap,” where Will Smith got on stage and slapped Chris Rock for the joke he made about Jada.

In addition to Keenen and Marlon, the show featured siblings Damon Wayans, Kim Wayans and Shawn Wayans for the first four seasons.

On October 11, 1975, George Carlin hosted the first Saturday Night Live. Lorne Michaels introduced the show to the masses, and over 50 years later, the series is going strong. It has launched some of the most notable comedians in history, like Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, and Tina Fey.
With Lorne Michael getting older, the biggest question is, who could take over for him? We explore the four comedians who we think could take over the popular series and keep it going for generations to come.

When looking over the mass amounts of comedians who have come from Saturday Night Live, it wasn’t easy to narrow the list down to a select few. But when you look at who has been there the longest or who has returned even years after breaking away, the list condenses slightly.

Peacock is now trying its hand at live comedy.
The streamer announced Colin Jost & Michael Che Present: New York After Dark, which will have the Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” duo hosting at The Bell House in Brooklyn. It will stream Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. Et and feature a rotation of the pair’s favorite New York City club comics, including fresh faces and likely some familiar ones as well. Grammy-nominated musical ensemble 1500 or Nothin’ is set to be the house band accompanying comics throughout the hour.
The announcement arrives as the market for stand-up specials is red hot. In fact, as platforms like Amazon and Hulu open their wallets, it has proved a bright spot in an otherwise bleak entertainment landscape. And while Peacock isn’t frequently involved in the increasingly common bidding wars, which have ratcheted up to eight figures for top comics, the platform has maintained a...

Netflix has dated Ellen DeGeneres’ next standup special, which she insists will be the last of her career.
Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, as she’s titled the new hour, will roll out on the global platform Sept. 24. DeGeneres’ new hour is being produced by industry “It” guy Ben Winston and his Fulwell 73 Productions, along with DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi. It’s no coincidence that “Families Like Ours,” the climate-change disaster miniseries in which Denmark literally closes due to flooding, is premiering in Venice, a city famously battling its own crisis over rising sea levels.
“All the water here made it the obvious choice,” says Thomas Vinterberg, the series’ Danish director. “Families Like Ours” marks his first TV series (and first project since his acclaimed Oscar-winning feature “Another Round”), and is being shopped internationally by StudioCanal (TV 2 is the local Danish broadcaster and will begin airing the 7-part show from Oct. 20). “Even in my first letter to [Venice director] Alberto [Barbera], I said there was no other place we can show this than in Venice.”
In typical Vinterberg fashion, “Families Like Ours” — as the title suggests — deals with family and society dynamics and behaviors in a plot that sees Danish authorities suddenly announce that the country’s citizens are to be evacuated...

Oscar-nominated “Another Round” director Thomas Vinterberg is making his TV drama directorial debut.
The filmmaker helms Studiocanal and Zentropa-produced series “Families Like Ours,” which is set in a not-too-distant future where climate change has forced evacuations. Vinterberg co-wrote the series with Bo Hr. Hansen, and reunited with his “Another Round” producers Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing for the show.
The official synopsis for the Denmark-set series reads: “The rising water levels can no longer be ignored and the country needs to be evacuated. As people disperse in all directions, they must bid farewell to what they love, what they know, and who they are. Slowly but steadily, everything is different. All property becomes worthless, all fortunes change, and luck favours only a few. Those who can afford it travel to affluent countries while the less well-off depend on government-funded relocation to more challenging destinations. Families, friends, and loved ones are separated.

1997’s G.I. Jane will forever be tied to one of the most infamous moments in Academy Awards history, when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for taking a dig at Jada Pinkett Smith’s tight cut, using the Demi Moore movie part of the punchline. But it’s important to remember just what impact that movie had upon release. Outside of Sigourney Weaver, it was practically unheard of for a mainstream actress – especially one considered one of the most beautiful in Hollywood – to take the risk to shave her head for a role. But Moore saw the chance to play this character and ran with it with a tenacity that for too long has been overlooked.
Sitting down with Michelle Yeoh for Interview, Demi Moore remembered collaborating with her director and pushing herself in a way she never had before. “I loved working with Ridley on G.I. Jane. Probably one of my favorite experiences…...

Since the late nineties, Noel Gallagher and his brother Liam Gallagher haven’t been on the nicest terms, and their years-long feud eventually led to the Oasis splitting in 2009 after the former left the band. The falling off between the two brothers can be traced back to their time on the third album, which, despite its commercial success, left a lot to be desired for the lead guitarist.

Imagine the early 90s, and the phenomenon that was Oasis that broke out of the British pop music scene. From the grunge of Manchester to the world at their feet, Oasis did not just see the heights of success but touched it and made it their own. It started with frontman Liam Gallagher, but it was his brother Noel, who somehow became the de facto leader of the band, even though he was the very last member to join.

And not just any clashes, but the one between the two brothers – Noel and Liam. From the very beginning, there was a tense feeling when it came to the Gallaghers and it kept escalating, until one day it reached a point...

But in 2019, the world was blindsided by the news that Chris Rock would be executive producing and starring in a new Saw movie, presumably in which a Jigsaw-like psycho tortures people using only a DVD copy of Grown Ups 2.
In 2021, we got Spiral: From the Book of Saw, which indeed found Rock playing a Chris Rock-like detective named Zeke Banks, who’s hot on the trail of a brutal serial killer.
While society has seemingly memory-holed Spiral, a lot of people brought it up in response to a recent social media post asking for examples of modern movies in which stand-up comedians perform their acts in character, à la Rodney Dangerfield. A lot of people pointed to Spiral...

In Adam Sandler’s newest Netflix stand-up special Love You, the Uncut Gems and Jack and Jill star’s Safdie-Sandler era struggles under the massive weight of his many dick jokes.
Sandler’s first collaboration with the elite indie filmmaker Josh Safdie proved to be one of the most important projects of his career. When Uncut Gems premiered in 2019, it had been 17 years since Punch-Drunk Love last proved that The Sandman could pull off a more nuanced role than “man-child who yells a lot” in a film that’s more artistically ambitious than the average Dunkin’ Donuts commercial. The success of Uncut Gems led to a renaissance in Sandler’s non-family-film career as he went on to produce and star in more challenging projects in his pursuit of an Oscar nomination that continues to this day.
However, the change of direction within Sandler’s career that culminated in the release...
