Kevin has stated that he received some of actor Cory Monteith's ashes. Cory died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol on July 13, 2013.

Became great friends with his The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013) co-stars, Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower. They were both at his wedding.

He is of Dutch descent. All four of his grandparents were born in the Netherlands.

A lifelong athlete who played on his school's football and basketball teams, he is also an avid golfer and weightlifter. In February 2002, he played on the Hollywood Knights celebrity basketball team in California.

He enjoys weight lifting and could bench press 200 pounds when he was 14 and at 17 he was seen lifting 285 pounds.

Has an unusual distinction: Has played a young boy who bleeds from the hands (a "Stigmata") on two occasions (Shadow Builder (1998) and The X-Files (1993)).

Most prized possession is his hockey equipment.

He has two dogs - Walter and Nugget.

He has two sisters: Krista and Katie Zegers. Katie has five children: twins Chloe and Mallory, Brady, Kobe and Finley.

Younger sister, Katie Zegers Almeida, gave birth to twins Chloe and Mallory in November 2004, Brady in January 2006, Kobe in June 2011 and Finley in March 2013.
