Fantastic Fest has announced the 15 projects in the second edition of its international co-production market: Fantastic Market | Mercado Fantastico.
Fantastic Fest lead programmer Rodney Perkins and festival director Kristen Bell run the market, set to take place from September 18-20 in Austin, Texas.
Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna and Pablo Cruz’s Mexican company Canana co-produces the event with Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey network.

Exclusive: The UK’s Framestore and producer David P. Kelly are set to partner on a $5m Mexican Cold War feature Lunik III, pitched at this week’s Moscow Business Square (Mbs).
Speaking exclusively to ScreenDaily, producer Victor Zavala Kugler of Jade Films said the English-language project was being pitched for the first time in Moscow since being introduced at the market in Guadalajara earlier this year

¨We have a co-production agreement between Mexico and the UK, and the UK can work with Russia through the European Convention, so we don’t have to wait for an agreement between Mexico and Russia,¨ Kugler said.

The UK and Latin America are the focus of the sixth Moscow Business Square (Mbs) (June 21-24) which is being held parallel to the Moscow International Film Festival (June 19-28).
The programme of events will include case studies of the Cannes 2014 title El Ardor and the first ever Brazilian-Russian co-production Red Russian, as well as of Vera Glagoleva’s Turgenev adaptation Two Women, starring Ralph Fiennes, and Peter Briggs’ Tank88.
In addition, there will be presentations of Russian documentaries at the stage of post-production to festival programmers, distributors and sales agents as well as roundtables on the production and distribution of biopics, potential for international remakes of Russian properties, legal aspects of the Russian VoD market and a day dedicated to trends in the Russian and international animation sectors.
