A trickle is becoming a flood for Bluesky, the social media company that has seen spectacular growth since the presidential election. On Tuesday, the microblogging platform hit 20 million users, after averaging 1 million new users per day over the past five days.

According to a Nov. 13 post by Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, the site had 6 million users in late August, nearly 11 million in late October and hit 15 million users on Nov. 15. It added another 5 million users in just five days, with the explosive growth seen since Nov. 5, the day of the election, accelerating.

Bluesky has been one of the main beneficiaries of millions of users leaving Elon Musk’s X, as the site formerly known as Twitter descends into a mess of bots, extreme content, crypto scams, ads, pornography, racism, transphobia and misinformation.

There are a lot of people making a move from the Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) to Bluesky.

The micro-blogging social media platform, considered by some to be an alternative to X and the Meta-owned Threads, has gained millions of additional new users, especially since the 2024 presidential election, amid criticism of X’s toxic nature and bot overload.

The United States election happened yesterday, and former President Donald Trump appears to have won both the Electoral College and the popular vote. While many at the Walt Disney Company will not be happy about this, there is an upside. They can save money on a new animatronic.

If Trump takes office again, Disney can update the speech and move the animatronic back to the center stage where the current President sits.

This time the animatronic will look like Trump and not like Hillary Clinton as it did for long time when it was originally added.

Funny story about that. The rumor is that Disney was so convinced Clinton would win they already started building her animatronic ahead of the election.

Their mutual friend was Tina Romero, a filmmaker and daughter of late zombie maestro George A. Romero, the revered Night of the Living Dead director.

Greg Kihn, who scored hits in the 1980s with the tunes “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em),” passed away Tuesday (August 13th) at 75 years old after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. His death was announced by his family.

Kihn was born in Baltimore but made his name in music after moving to San Francisco, where he formed the Greg Kihn Band. After releasing a handful of albums in the ’70s, Kihn earned his breakout hit in 1981 with “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em),” which rose to No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

A couple years later, the Greg Kihn Band released their biggest hit with “Jeopardy” from the 1983 album Kihnspiracy. The tune soared to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, only prevented from the top spot by Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”

Greg Kihn, the singer and songwriter of behind 1980s hits “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em),” died Tuesday of Alzheimer’s complications. He was 75.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Greg Kihn, an iconic figure in the realm of rock music,” Kihn’s management said in a statement posted on his website.

“Known for his magnetic stage presence and unique storytelling that captivated audiences around the globe. He was not merely a musician but a cultural phenomenon whose influence will resonate for generations to come.”

Kihn was born on July 10, 1949, in Baltimore. His management describes his songwriting style as a “unique” blend of folk, classic rock, blues, and pop, adding, “his sound helped define a rich musical legacy in the San Francisco Bay Area scene.”

His biggest hit was “Jeopardy,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, just behind Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.

"Teen Titans Go!" is a bit of a controversial cartoon among fans, as it is a much more comedic, kid-friendly version of the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon (which was darker and more anime-inspired). Conan O’Brien’s tenure in late night may be over, but make no mistake: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is still going strong.

The fan-favorite Robert Smigel puppet from Late Night with Conan O’Brien has been forging ahead with solo projects for years — including a sitcom with Jack McBrayer, appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and most recently, a performance taped in January live at the San Francisco Sketchfest.

The live show brought back Triumph’s 2020 quiz show podcast Let’s Make a Poop with Triumph roasting a panel of celebs and leading them through a game of “Poopardy!”.

Peter Farrelly’s Ricky Stanicky concerns a trio of best friends who create an imaginary person to blame for their misdeeds. As the years go by, Dean (Zac Efron), Jt (Andrew Santino), and Wes (Jermaine Fowler) continue using “Ricky” as an excuse any time they want to skip, say, a family gathering or sneak out on a boys’ weekend. In such moments, they simply tell their significant others that Ricky really needs them right now.

That’s a solid enough setup for a film, a kind of coming-of-middle-age comedy in the vein of Jeff Tomsic’s Tag, where the characters’ commitment to a childhood tradition ends up jeopardizing their adult lives in the process. But where the antics of Tag’s characters effectively captured the stupid joy of acting like your younger self while hanging out with your oldest friends, Ricky Stanicky is stupid in a much less joyful way.

It was announced all the way back in 2022 that Paramount was going to be remaking "Naked Gun" with Liam Neeson as the star. There was little movement on the project in terms of additional cast members or a projected release window throughout all of 2023, leading many to believe the film had been scrapped or entered a new circle of Hollywood production hell.
