Vadim Vasilevich Yakovlev was born on March 4, 1946, in Vladimir, USSR.
His father, named Vasili Yakovlev, was an actor. His mother was an
artist. Young Yakovlev was fond of theatre and loved being behind the
scenes during the stage performances of his father. From 1962-1967 he
studied acting with Georgi Tovstonogov at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre,
Music, and Cinematography and graduated in 1967 as an actor.
Since 1967 Vadim Yakovlev has been a permanent member of the troupe at Theatre Baltiysky Dom (former Lenkom Theatre) in St. Petersburg, Russia. There his stage partners were such actors as Era Ziganshina, Tatyana Piletskaya, Alla Balter, Natalya Tenyakova, Irina Konopatskaya, Klavdiya Belova, Nadezhda Maltseva, Regina Lialeikite, Natalya Popova, Nataliya Nesterova, Yulian Panich, Roman Gromadskiy, Emmanuil Vitorgan, Aleksandr Slastin, Igor Tikhonenko, Vladimir Tykke, Petr Shelokhonov, and other notable Russian actors.
Vadim Yakovlev was designated the title of People's Artist of Russia. He is best known for the leading role in 'Agent natsionalnoi bezopastnosti' (2000) a popular Russian TV series. He currently resides in St. Petersburg, Russia.
