Arkansas Completes First Double Execution in 17 Years After Supreme Court Rejects Last-Minute Appeal
Arkansas completed the nation’s first double execution since 2000 on Monday night after a last-minute appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court failed.
The Associated Press reported the first inmate, Jack Jones, 52, was executed at 7:20 p.m. Attorneys for the second inmate, Marcel Williams, 46, convinced a federal judge to briefly delay the proceedings over concerns about how the earlier death was handled.
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-minute appeal by Williams’ legal team at 7:50 p.m. At 8:25 p.m. a federal judge in Little Rock, Arkansas, temporarily halted Williams’ execution, but lifted the court order at 9:30 p.

James Marsters as "Don" and Charisma Carpenter as "Maggie"
on an upcoming episode of Supernatural
All photos: Marcel Williams/The CW
Ringer isn't the only CW show to welcome Buffy alum. The October 21st episode of Supernatural, titled "Shut Up, Dr. Phil," features James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter. While we'd love to see the Winchester brothers go up against Spike aand Cordelia, this time out they're playing Don and Maggie Stark, a wealthy couple with a children's charity. Just a hunch, but all may not be as it seems with these two.
Jared Padalecki (Sam) and Jensen Ackles (Dean)
Either she's trying out her Krav Maga moves - or Charisma's casting a spell of some sort.

The new season of adventures in America’s most scientifically advanced community continue at rapid pace (on Syfy, Fridays, 9 p.m.). Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) finds that not only has he been fired from his position, but he is being replaced by an android. But, before the episode mounts yet another “man replaced by machine” warhorse, the audience is swept into a mystery involving random gravitational anomalies. The mystery unravels without too much deductive effort but, fortunately, ratiocination has never been the strong suit of this series. Eureka’s strength has always been rooted in the continual juggling of its quirky ensemble of characters. Things get a little crowded in this opener, and tend to move a bit too quickly but all the balls are smoothly up in the air and, for those who havebeen loyally following the series, all is right with the world of Eureka.

Established 1974! Our news column prepares to be hit by a meteor!
Sci-fi
Holey moley! For a change, this weekend promises Eight new genre entries. Some may even be good—or goode, because ABC has another episode of the doomed animated The Goode Family (Friday, 8:30 p.m.). And then hallelujah! Eureka also returns tonight (Friday, 9 p.m.) on Syfy so it’s “Welcome Back, Carter” as the once (and future?) sheriff arrives back in town for third season antics (pictured).
The newness continues Saturday with another first-run episode of the cancelled Kings (“Javelin,” NBC, 8 p.m.) and the final two of Harper’S Island, concluding the CBS serialized murder mystery with a “Gasp” (9 p.m.) and a “Sigh” (10 p.m.). Hallelujah! BBC America provides a new-to-the-Colonies Primeval (9 p.m.) in which a giant insect from the future goes to the races. Welcome back, insect! But, Gasp! Primeval has been cancelled...
