- Richard Whitmore was a familiar face on UK Tv well into the early nineties. One of the BBC's top news anchormen come stalwarts come general nice guy he retired as a new caster after many many years of long and trusted service.
He is one of only a handful of BBC anchor men to have at one time or another presented all bulletins from the early morning, morning, afternoon, early evening and late evening news.
Richard decided to retire from newscasting and focus on his love affair with the stage. Until that point he was a well liked presenter with audiences and colleagues alike. He now runs his own theater group.

- Joined the BBC in 1964, where he was a reporter until 1968, Northern Ireland correspondent 1968-1972, and newsreader from 1973 to the late eighties.
- Having retired from his job as a BBC TV newsreader in the 1980s, he fulfilled a long-held ambition by becoming a stage and pantomime actor. He runs his own theatre in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
