In 2003 he sang the title role in the American premiere of Olivier Messiaen's opera "St. Francis of Assisi".

He starred in the title role of Shakespeare's "Othello", with 'Ian McKellen' as Iago and Imogen Stubbs as Desdemona, in a production directed by Trevor Nunn for the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is scheduled to be broadcast on British television.

He is the bass-baritone soloist on the premiere recording of 'Paul McCartney''s "Liverpool Oratorio".

In 2010, he will appear in the Metropolitan Opera's new production of 'Leos Janacek''s opera "From the House of the Dead".
