    • Eddy Wally was born on July 12, 1932 in Ertvelde, Belgium. He was an actor, known for Biografie (1967), Zomerrust (1993) and Lava (1989). He was married to Mariëtte Roegiers. He died on February 6, 2016 in Zelzate, Flanders, Belgium.

Trivia

  • He is also known for his popular meme where he appears before a green-screen, says "wow," then winks at the viewer before stepping out of the frame.
  • Eddy Wally started as a salesman on markets selling handbags and became popular in the 1960s, after his association with Dutch producer Johnny Hoes. He even had his own disco "Chérie-Paris Las Vegas", first known as "Eddy Wally's Texas Bar".
  • A main-belt asteroid is named after Eddy Wally (9205 Eddywally). It is in orbit around the sun between Mars and Jupiter.
  • In 2010, he was taken ill on stage at the Gentse Feesten. He later suffered a stroke and retired to a rest home in Zelzate.
  • "With his hat, his glitzy sunglasses and the sparkles in his suit, he brought dreams into Flanders' living rooms," said culture minister Sven Gatz.
