- Sybyl Walker was born in East Chicago, Indiana, USA. She is known for Dreamgirls (2006), X-Men: Next Dimension (2002) and Oz (1997).
- During her college years in Dallas, she also taught aerobics classes, which included wives of Dallas Cowboys.
- Her father was a criminal attorney who later served as a judge. Her mother was an interior designer and elementary school teacher. She has a brother who is a licensed optician.
- She was awarded the 1988 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Revue for "The Colored Museum" at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago, Illinois.
