The conman is back. Above, check out the Impastor TV show poster for the second season on TV Land. Buddy (Michael Rosenbaum) seems to be in a bit of a jam. While he's wearing his clerical collar and has his hands folded in prayer, he's also being locked in the trunk of a car -- probably by an enforcer for that loan shark he's been ducking.The dark comedy is executive produced by creator Christopher Vane and Rosenbaum. The single-camera comedy, which stars Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum as a debt-plagued slacker who poses as the new gay pastor in a small town, has snagged a 10-episode pickup by the cable network. The project from Christopher Vane (Suddenly Susan) also stars Mircea Monroe (Episodes, Hart of Dixie), Aimee Garcia (Dexter) and Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect).

Sara Rue is returning to TV, this time for TV Land’s new show Impastor. She won the female lead role opposite of Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum (Buddy), who moves to a small town to leave behind his past debuts. With this move he is required to come up with a new personalty and thus he declares himself as a gay pastor. Yes, this comedy reeks of Fran Drescher’s old show. Sara will play Dora, Buddy’s assistant. Christopher Vane is behind this new comedy.

Sara worked on previous comedies such as Popular, Rules of Engagement and Less than Perfect. She hasn’t had a big role in a while and while TV Land is the Las Vegas of TV-it could give her a new lease on life. Right now it appears that show is in pre-production which means we will likely not see it until sometime in 2015.
