Composer Tay Uhler's distinct California ear has brought some of
music's most progressive sounds to film, television and records. At the
age of 19, Tay hit the road with John Phillips of The Mamas and Papas
and toured the U.S. While working with Phillips and producer Lou Adler
he worked on the soundtrack of Brewster McLcoud a Robert Altman film.
Tay was subsequently selected to score the award winning short film,
Breath of Fire and signed his first publishing contract with Bobby
Roberts and Hal Landers. On one of his first assignments, he co-wrote
Listen To The Melody with Quincy Jones for the Twentieth Century Fox
Film, The Hot Rock. The next decade found Tay playing guitar in concert
throughout Europe, Canada, and the U.S. with Johnny Rivers; appearing
on numerous Midnight Specials, Don Kirshner's Rock Concerts, and Dick
Clark Television Specials. Tay made appearances with Jan & Dean, Ann
Murray, and worked with Jimmy Webb. Spending hundreds of hours with
L.A.'s top studio musicians, he continued his writing, featuring New
Lovers and Old Friends, a title track for Johnny Rivers. In the early
eighties he became an original member of The Surf Punks. He later
formed a band, Eddie Sapien with film composer Gary Chang which opened
for Oingo Boingo in the L.A. club scene. Through producer Lou Adler,
Tay worked with Cheech Marin on the Born in East L.A. album and Get Out
of My Room music video. For Paramount Pictures he co-wrote the title
track for Back To The Beach. The distinct films of Sundance award
winning director, Stacy Peralta, all benefit from Tay Uhler scores. In
television, Tay has composed for numerous television series including
Tales From The Crypt, SK8 TV, Nickelodeon Bing Show, The Wild Side
Show, The Sunday Comics, and Invasion of the Hidden Cameras. Tay also

Strike. This show was so successful in ratings that it led Fox into an
era of 'shocking reality'. Other shows followed including Close Calls,
Video Justice, Stopping the Stalkers and The World's Nastiest
Neighbors. Tay's sound became so defined that Fox started lifting it to
introduce their Sport Shows and special events. This led to the Fox
Television Movies, Getting Away With Murder - The Jonbenet Ramsey
Story, After Different Strokes - When The Laughter Stopped, and
Unauthorized: The Mary Letourneau Story. Tay was honored by Ted Haimes
(director) and Universal to score Dial 'H' For Hitchcock - The Genius
