Apparently, Spears did just that. "We got a call a few weeks after the writers' strike [in 2007] ended saying that Britney Spears wanted to be on our show," Bays responded. "And she specifically wanted to be in the episode 'Ten Sessions,' which sent a chill down our spines, because that's the one where we meet Stella [Zinman, a love interest for Josh Radnor's Ted Mosby]."

In a new interview, the American Pie alum revealed she had an idea for a reboot that would focus on Jason Segel’s character, Marshall Eriksen.

“It’s like, ‘No, no, no, no kids. That’s not how it happened,'” Hannigan told People. “And then it starts out with, ‘We were a lot older, first of all …’ and then we can just do the show again.”

Hulu has canceled How I Met Your Father after two seasons.

The news broke Friday night, just months after the conclusion of the sophomore season.

The controversial decision means we'll be left on a cliffhanger because the show never got close to unmasking the identity of Sophie's baby daddy.

The series hinted at it with the second season's conclusion, with Sophie moving on with Jesse.

However, there were more key players in the mix, and there was the potential the show could pull the rug from under us to switch things up entirely.

How I Met Your Father picked up eight years after the events of How I Met Your Mother, taking us into a new circle of friends headlined by Hilary Duff.

The news comes two days after the Disney-run streamer canceled The Great. How I Met Your Father, which stars Hilary Duff, ended its second season in July and did not answer the implied question in its title.

How I Met Your Father is a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, which ran on CBS from 2005-14. Though not a direct sequel, it’s set in the same version of New York as the original series and has featured guest appearances from Himym stars Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris, among other alumni of that show. Characters played by Christopher Lowell and Suraj Sharma also live in the apartment occupied by Ted (Josh Radnor) and Marshall (Jason Segel) in the former series.

The Hilary Duff-led “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff concluded its second (and now final) season July 11 without revealing who Duff’s character, Sophie, ended up having a child with. The show debuted in January 2022 and aired 30 episodes overall.

Neil Patrick Harris is set to reprise his star-making role of Barney Stinson on the upcoming mid-season finale of the Hulu original spinoff series “How I Met Your Father.”

Harris was a main cast member and a fan favorite on the original CBS comedy series “How I Met Your Mother,” which ran for nine seasons after debuting in 2005. Harris earned four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series over the course of his tenure with the show, in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Harris will appear in next week’s two-episode mid-season finale of “How I Met Your Father,” which debuts on Hulu on March 28. After the duo of installments, the series will take a hiatus for a few weeks before continuing its 20-episode second season on May 23.

How I Met Your Father is executive produced by Isaac Aptaker, Elizabeth Berger, Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pam Fryman, and Adam Londy. Aptaker and Berger are the writers, and Duff serves as a producer on the comedy series from 20th Television.

The Hulu original series How I Met Your Father returns for its second season on Tuesday, January 24, the streamer said Tuesday. New episodes will follow weekly on Hulu.

The series stars Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Suraj Sharma alongside recurring stars, Kim Cattrall, Daniel Augustin, Ashley Reyes and Josh Peck. The comedy follows Sophie (Duff) as she tells her son the story of how she met his father — a story that catapults viewers back to the year 2022 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Suit up, it's time to discuss everyone's favorite self-proclaimed lady's man. The antics of Barney Stinson may not have aged particularly well here in 2022, but the "How I Met Your Mother" character somehow remains just as beloved today as he was when the show was on the air. There is one reason for that and his name is Neil Patrick Harris. This is not to say series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and their team didn't do an amazing job writing these characters, because they definitely did. However, the show's resident lothario wouldn't have been nearly as lovable if Harris hadn't imbued him with so much heart. Barney does one despicable thing after another, and yet the audience continues to root for him. Harris' performance brought so much depth to a character that could've very easily been little more than a caricature.

Hulu’s “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff series “How I Met Your Father” debuted with its first two episodes Tuesday, paying tribute to the late Bob Saget, who narrated the original CBS sitcom that birthed the new Hilary Duff comedy.

At the end of the sitcom’s first installment, a title card reads “In Loving Memory of Bob Saget,” in honor of the comedian who voiced the older version of Josh Radnor’s Ted Mosby on all nine seasons of “How I Met Your Mother,” from 2005 to 2014.

Saget died on Jan. 9 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando, Fla. He was 65.

Tributes are flooding in for Bob Saget from those who knew and worked with the actor, following news of his sudden death on Sunday.

Saget was best known for playing Danny Tanner on ABC’s Full House (1987-1995), a role he later reprised on Netflix’s Fuller House (2016-2020). He also famously served as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos (1989-1997), and provided the narration for CBS’ How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014).

Back in 2013, Amazon decided to let viewers decide which series it produced. The streamer put all of its contending pilots online and based the decision of which series to pick on viewer feedback from the pilots. The policy has led to quite a few unpopular and critically lambasted series getting full-season orders. That's going to change as the streamer ditches the feedback model and cancels several of its current series, including Sea Oak and Love You More.
