Recently, there has been a lot of negative news about the upcoming MCU Blade reboot. After months of problems and Yann Demange leaving as director, the film has now been taken off Disney’s 2025 release schedule.
This move was expected since it seemed very unlikely the movie could meet its November 2025 deadline. It still doesn’t have a filming date, a finished script, or a director.
Recent reports from industry insider Daniel Richtman say that the Blade movie has been changed again. He claims that filming is set to start in 2025 in the United Kingdom. The film will have a smaller budget and is expected to be very dark, rated R, as they are working on a new script.
This news is positive, especially since reports say Mahershala Ali is still involved with the project. This makes sense because insiders say he wants to turn Blade into his own version of Black Panther.

It seems that in recent months all news related to the upcoming MCU’s ‘Blade’ reboot has been negative. Following months of troubling news, and Demange leaving his position as the movie’s director the other shoe has finally dropped and the movie has been removed from Disney’s 2025 release slate.
Quite frankly the move has been expected, it was extremely unlikely that the movie would make its November 2025 deadline considering it lacks a filming date, script, and director.
Now the latest reports brought to us from industry insider Daniel Richtman claim that the movie has undergone yet another overhaul. Marvel just made yet another big change to its slate. Is dropping Blade a bad sign?
2023 saw the once-invincible MCU finally hit an overdue road block. First, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania disappointed at the box office. Then, Jonathan Majors, who was set to become the new big bad of the franchise as Kang, was arrested on assault charges and soon fired. Then, the 2023 Hollywood strikes curtailed production while The Marvels flopped.
While Deadpool & Wolverine has been a hit and Agatha All Along won wide praise and viewership, much of the rest of the Marvel lineup has been delayed until 2025. That included what was going to be a top contender for fans, Blade.
The original 1998 Blade was the first true Marvel hit movie. It adapted the cult character of a half-vampire hunting other vampires with Wesley Snipes in the title role. Thanks to a good script, great direction and Snipes’ performance,...

We finally saw Blade appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film — it just wasn’t the Blade played by Mahershala Ali. The first appearance of Blade in the MCU came in “Deadpool & Wolverine” with Wesley Snipes reprising his iconic role.
And now Ali’s “Blade” has been delayed yet again, pulled from Disney’s 2025 release slate entirely. What a disaster.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige first announced a “Blade” reboot back in 2019 with Ali attached to star, and the character was even teased in the post-credits of 2021’s “Eternals,” a would-be franchise that now seems forgotten.
“Blade” has been through many starts and stops, with several writers and directors filtering through and with delays because of the writers strike and more. Through it all, the franchise’s original stars Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff haven’t refrained from talking about it.
“It’s not the actor’s fault,” Snipes said of Ali.

Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps are all heading our way next year and, up until today, so was Blade.
It's been pretty obvious for a while that it wouldn't arrive in theaters on November 7, 2025, especially as there was no mention of it at events like San Diego Comic-Con and D23 earlier this summer. Now, Disney has confirmed that by removing the Daywalker's solo outing from its release schedule.
As a result, the Blade reboot is undated and delayed indefinitely.
On the plus side, Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands has taken Blade's place next November. Disney has also dated three untitled Marvel Studios movies for February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028.
For what it's worth, scooper @MyTimeToShineH says, "Blade [is] not dead so don't bury it yet."

[This story contains spoilers from the Power Book II: Ghost series finale.]
On the very first episode of Power created by Courtney Kemp and executive produced by rapper-turned-tv mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson back in June 2014, there was no way of knowing that the kid in the nice penthouse apartment asking his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) if his father James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), who spoke fluent Spanish, could “hook up” his Spanish homework as she served breakfast was on his way to becoming a drug kingpin. At that point, the young Tariq didn’t even know his father was himself a kingpin known on the streets as Ghost (Hardwick). And that his mother also knew. Michael Rainey Jr. was just a few months from turning 14. Now a decade later, just over a week after turning 24, he’s closed out another series.
When Power Book II: Ghost premiered Sept. 6, 2020, the pandemic had put the whole country and world on a life-turning timeout.

The Part Two synopsis reads: “Part one of Power Book II: Ghost uncovered unanswered high-stakes questions. Part two of the final season will showcase the adage ‘Like father, Like son.’ Tariq finds himself in an eerily similar situation, just like his late father, Ghost, stuck between a rock and a hard place, with the choice to leave the game or take over. Although we’ve come to the end of the road, I just can’t let go.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of Starz‘s Power Book II: Ghost.
In 2014, Michael Rainey Jr. was a young teen when he debuted as Tariq St. Patrick in the Starz drama series Power, from executive producers Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Could there be a third?
The Power Book II: Ghost conclusion, currently available to stream via the Starz app, wraps up many storylines while leaving others open for possible continuation. Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
After four short seasons, Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost is officially over following tonight’s series finale titled “Ghost in the Machine.” This won’t be a recap of the episode as we will be breaking all that down tomorrow with two of the show’s biggest stars, but rather it’s to discuss Tariq St. Patrick’s (Michael Rainey Jr.) Marvel moment, if you will, at the end of the episode following the credits.

Mary J. Blige remembers the first time she got positive feedback for her acting. “When I was 7, I did a Christmas play in school, and the word from the other students and teachers was that me and this guy who was also in the play did very, very, very well,” she says. “It put something in me like, ‘Okay maybe I can really do this,’ and I always wanted to act [after] getting that feedback. At some point, I kind of left it alone and got into the music business.”
Choosing the music business early in her career has more than worked out for Blige. There are only two episodes left of Power Book II: Ghost and the action is ramping Up.
As the series approaches its conclusion, two characters are embarking on two very different journeys.
Dru Tejada forges his path by teaming up with crooked Detective Carter against his mother’s wishes. Then there’s Brayden, who’s had a rocky time during this final season and sees his latest relationship implode when he lets his anger get the best of him.

Dru has made a decision for himself, and as his portrayer, the ever-candid Lovell Adams-Gray, shared with us, he’s working with Detective Carter with a larger plan in mind.
“I think Dru is trying to carve out a lane for himself and protect his family in the way that he sees best,” Adams-Gray said when asked about what’s driving Dru at this point in the story.

And just like that, everything is falling apart.
Just when you thought everyone was going to band together and defeat the biggest evil of all, Detective Carter, things went spectacularly awry, as things tend to do on Power Book II: Ghost.

In the eighth episode of this fourth season of Power Book II: Ghost, Tariq and Monet attempt a strategic move to gain leverage over Carter, opting to make a calculated play involving Noma. Now, this is what I’m talking about.
This is the Power Book II: Ghost we’ve all come to love and revere over the years.
As a universe, Power has always been at its best when its varied plot points, as convoluted as they may be, coalesce and have all the characters together, whether they’re working against one another or something bigger than them.

We’ve finally reached that point with three hours to go.
While I may have lamented the emphasis on Carter and his crew during Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Episode 6, it all paid off here when they were in a much-diminished role, and Carter’s grandiose plan to eradicate violent crime by “owning” criminals all over the city slowly started to crumble.
As a bad guy, Carter has been okay. Michael Ealy always brings a lot to the table, but it...

In this week’s Power Book II: Ghost, a deeply painful loss leads to self-reflection, healing and inner peace… just kidding! Diana’s trauma sets off a series of events that make everything worse for a whole lot of people, which is how it tends to go in the Powerverse, right? On the upside: At least we get a Tasha sighting.

The CEO of Starz provided some insight into why Power Book II: Ghost is ending.
Power Book II, a spin-off to the popular Power, follows Michael Rainey Jr.’s Tariq St. Patrick, the twenty-something son of James St. Patrick and the protagonist of the mothership series.
Book II and its extensive cast are now in its fourth season, and Tariq is grappling with his father's legacy while operating his own drug trafficking business.

Is Diana Tejada okay?
That was the central question lingering on our minds when the credits rolled on Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Episode 6, and Diana was lying on the pavement with a panicked Tariq calling out for help.
We’ll have to wait for answers about what comes next for Diana and Tariq, but even so, we had to go right to the source to try and get some answers.

Tariq and Diana’s portrayers, Michael Rainey Jr. and Latoya Tonodeo, were kind enough to spend a few minutes with me reacting to the latest episode and looking ahead to what’s coming from the final few episodes.
Diana found herself in a tricky situation when one of Carter’s underlings, Felicia, tasked her with killing drug dealer Zion after he made a potential mess for her and her fellow dirty cops.

It may be time to have a hard conversation about this final season of Power Book II: Ghost.
We now only have four new hours of this series to digest and process, and at the rate they’re going, I can’t confidently say I’m not loving the direction.
Something feels off right now, but this isn’t an instance where I can’t put my finger on what’s wrong. I know exactly what the issue is.

Shows need to keep themselves fresh, and they do so by adding recurring characters and different things to prevent their characters and storylines from becoming stale.
You bring in a new villain to challenge the good guys and change the stakes so your audience sees something new while still connecting to the characters they’re connected to.
It’s not always easy, and at times, shows make the...
