Okay, we know that Cannes is the big thing at the moment and that everyone’s waiting for the premiere of Furiosa next week, but if you don’t know what to do in between, we might just have a very interesting proposal for all of you horror fans out there. The queer psychological horror I Saw the TV Glow was quietly released in theaters last Friday, after having its premiere at Sundance in January and after its limited release on May 3. Distributed by A24, the movie might not become a box office record-breaker, but it seems that the critics love it, and that might motivate people to go see the movie.
The movie is based on an original screenplay by Jane Schoenbrun, who also directed the movie. The non-binary filmmaker is best known for their earlier horror We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, which was also an indie...

A24 and We’re All Going to the World’s Fair director Jane Schoenbrun have teamed up for a new horror movie called I Saw the TV Glow, which JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had the chance to see at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (you can read his 5/10 review at This Link). Yesterday, A24 took to social media to unveil a poster for the film, and to promise that a trailer would be online today. True to their word, they have already dropped the trailer online, and you can check it out in the embed above! I Saw the TV Glow is scheduled to reach theatres on May 3rd.
Written and directed by Schoenbrun, I Saw the TV Glow tells the story of two teenage outcasts who bond over their shared love of a scary television show. However, the boundary between TV and reality begins to blur after it is mysteriously canceled.

Fresh off the haunting and singularly creepy indie We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, Jane Schoenbrun is back with A24‘s I Saw the TV Glow, releasing only in theaters May 3.
Headed to the SXSW Film Festival next month, I Saw the TV Glow first earned rave reviews out of Sundance, and several of them are featured in the film’s must-see official trailer.
In a world where too many people seem to be following trends and doing what everyone else is doing, Jane Schoenbrun is undoubtedly a true original. That was clear from We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. And it’s crystal clear watching the trailer for I Saw the TV Glow.
Watch the eerily seductive trailer for I Saw the TV Glow down below, which hails A24’s latest as “a one-of-a-kind masterpiece” and “one of the most original films of this decade.”

Real Estate have announced their upcoming album, Daniel, set for release on February 23rd, 2024 via Domino Recording Co. As a preview, the New Jersey outfit has shared their first single from the album, “Water Underground,” and announced a 2024 North American tour.
Daniel marks Real Estate’s first full-length album since their 2020 release, The Main Thing, and is their sixth studio LP. Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Daniel Tashian, Daniel aims to “connect the uninhibited wonder of Real Estate’s earliest work with the earned perspective of adulthood.” The band reunited in Nashville for the album, sharing a rental space after being separated from each other for the past few years.
As for “Water Underground,” Martin Courtney of Real Estate said that the single is a song about writing songs. “I think ‘Water Underground’ is like the unconscious, the mysterious part of your brain where creativity comes from,” he said in a press release.

In the 1990s, Nickelodeon created a sketch comedy show called "All That," an absurdist half-hour that was the kid's answer to "Saturday Night Live." The series ran for 10 seasons and served as the launchpad for performers like Nick Cannon, Amanda Bynes, Josh Server, Katrina Johnson, Lori Beth Denberg, Danny Tamberelli, Kel Mitchell, and the longest-reigning "SNL" cast member in history, Kenan Thompson. Like the adult series, "All That" birthed a handful of sketches that would get their own spin-offs, none more famous than "Good Burger."
Kenan and Kel starred as Dexter and Ed, getting into hijinks while working at a fast food joint that fans loved so much, they got their own movie. Now, over 25 years later, the classic combo is back with "Good Burger 2." Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios released a teaser trailer today, opening with Dexter hit by a car being driven by Ed, one that he's converted into a burger mobile.

A24 and Fruit Tree Productions have added several new cast members for the upcoming thriller with the intriguing title of "I Saw the TV Glow." This project comes to us from writer and producer Jane Schoenbrun. If "Poltergeist" and "The Ring" made you fear your television and VHS player, you're going to find the synopsis intriguing. That goes double if you love horror television.
The cast isn't just populated with actors, but a bunch of musicians as well, including Fred Durst, indie artist Lindsey Jordan from Snail Mail, the band King Woman, and more.
If Fruit Tree Productions sounds familiar, it's the banner started by Academy Award-winner Emma Stone and Emmy-nominated writer-director Dave McCary in 2020.
The film has wrapped production already, though there has been no release date announcement yet. We'll keep you updated as that information becomes available.

A stylish twist on the end-of-high-school dramedy, Tyler Taormina’s “Ham on Rye” offers the ethereal echoes of “The Virgin Suicides” with the gossamer veil of a humid summer’s day slowly lifting, but laced with notes of John Hughes on a steady micro-dose of LSD. That’s to say things are always off-kilter in this movie but the exact nature of whatever is the kink in this coming-of-ager never reveals itself. And while the narrative hardly goes into the fully unhinged direction it teases, it’s .

The execs at Nickelodeon have been all about embracing the network’s animated past. A new Hey Arnold film, upcoming features for Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim, and a planned Rugrats revival are in the pipeline. The network’s strategy of using its ‘90s and ‘00s hits to connect generations proves a little harder when looking at its hit live-action shows; shows like Clarissa Explains It All, Sneaky Pete, Kenan and Kel, and The Amanda Show were all character driven by the child stars of the moment. Three decades ago, execs at pioneering kids network Nickelodeon realized that wanted to do more than just air old comedy repeats (“Dennis the Menace”) and Canadian imports (“You Can’t Do That on Television”). But this was the early days of cable, and there were no budgets.
That’s how the network’s first game show, “Double Dare,” came to be produced at the local PBS station in Philadelphia. “Nickelodeon couldn’t do [shows] in La and they couldn’t do them in New York because the cost was too prohibitive,” recalled host Marc Summers. “They found out that the PBS station in Philly, Whyy, wanted to open up a production wing, so the station said, ‘If you help us, we’ll help you. Would you put ads in the trade magazines and say, ‘Hey, we had this great experience down in Philly,’ so other people will come knocking on our...

We look back fondly at the innate weirdness of Nickelodeon's 90s show The Adventures Of Pete And Pete...
At some point in the early 1990s – I forget the exact year, but research tells me it must have been somewhere around late 1993 or early 1994 – something unbearably exciting happened in our suburb of Merseyside.
