Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee has started shooting for the third season of ‘The Family Man’ under the direction of the duo Raj & Dk. Streaming giant Prime Video took to Instagram and shared a picture of the clapboard alongside an image of the cast.

It was captioned: “#TFM3W us – shoot begins, drop your excitement.”

In season three, currently in production, Manoj will reprise the character of Srikant Tiwari, a middle-class man and a spy.

About 9.00 am on Thursday, theatre owners informed eager fans who were waiting outside that the film will not be screened in their theatres. A total of 11 theatres in Dindigul town, namely Rajendra, Uma, Carnival (all 7 theatres), Vijay and Ganesh, are not screening Darbar. Superstar Rajinikanth says he would love to explore the idea of playing a transgender in a film.

"I have explored almost all the genres. I have worked in 160 films and it's been 45 years in the film industry. I want to play the role of a transgender," said the Tamil screen idol, when asked if there still was any genre or role that he would like to explore after such a glorious innings in films.

Every actor in this romp-com over-acts. And that includes veterans Dalip Tahil and the long-time-no-see Anita Raj playing the hero Prateik’s forever-argmentative parents.

Tahil gets to shut his jabbering wife long enough to sprout these words of wisdom on human relationships. “Love is not about conquest. It’s about letting go.”

The two heroes, Prateik and Siddhanth, talented and subtle otherwise, are shrill to the point of being annoying. But that could have something to do with the sketchy characters they play. (Babbar) and Saahil(Kapoor) are shallow versions of Prateik’s father Raj Babbar and Deepak Parasher in B R Chopra’s Nikaah.

Inspiring,yes. But in an uncomfortably perspiring way. Mission Mangal, based on a true and truly commendable mission to launch a rocket into Mars, tried very hard to tick all the right boxes in the manual entitled ‘How To Get A Tax Exemption For Your Film.’ It addresses the question of India’s national and international pride. It speaks about empowered women balancing a personal life with their mission to orbit India into Mars.

Most importantly, and this one is saved for the last, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears on screen to praise the mission that we’ve just seen being accomplished in a film that tries to be as pleasing as it could possibly be. In the process the film loses out on a more processed and sorted narrative.
