- After winning Miss Iceland, she was in the very first Miss International contest that was launched in 1960. Sirry competed against 51 other national winners in Long Beach, CA. She won 2nd runner up and the title of Miss Photogenic. Miss Colombia was the winner, with Miss India as 1st runner up. Shortly after her reign was over, Sirry moved to California in 1960 to pursue an acting career.

- In 1960, Sirry's first TV role after winning the title of Miss Iceland was on the private detective series Michael Shayne (1960) starring Richard Denning. In 1961, she played a French girl in a restaurant on The Tom Ewell Show (1960), and in her first movie,, she played Anna in Hitler (1962), starring Richard Basehart.

- She returned to Iceland in 1971 and began working for Geir's, her father's business. She also performed as a singer on TV shows and in Icelandic bands. In 1981, she received a BA degree in English and became a teacher. She married Porkel Valdimarsson in 1975 but the marriage did not last long. On December 30, 1983, she married Stefán Bjarnason. Sirrý never had children but Stefán had two sons from his first marriage.
