On Dec. 16, 1974, 20th-Fox and Warner Bros. unveiled in theaters what would become a landmark disaster movie: The 170-minute, John Guillermin-directed Towering Inferno. The movie, which took in $116 million domestically at the time, tops The Hollywood Reporter’s list of greatest disaster movies of all time. THR’s original review of the feature is below:
Movie technology is the star of this awesome Irwin Allen production, a formula disaster picture made into an event by the sheer size of its inflating production values. More ordeal than entertainment, it overwhelms the spectator like a bully playing on the fears of a society trapped in its own burning affluence.
Since the screenplay by Stirling Silliphant has nothing new to say (the “insanity” of building skyscrapers is dealt with in Earthquake), and the general doomsday appeal of the disaster genre has already been established, The Towering Inferno‘s appeal lies entirely in immediate visceral reactions.

When Grey’s Anatomy resumes its current 14th season on Jan. 18 (8/7c, ABC), the action will pick up exactly where it left off: With Jo in the midst of a very tense reunion with her abusive husband, Dr. Paul Stadler, played by Glee vet Matthew Morrison. But as this exclusive image from the midseason premiere confirms, the creepy grin Paul had plastered on his face upon seeing his estranged spouse has largely vanished.

The season 14 midseason finale of Grey's Anatomy had the staff at Grey Sloan facing an unprecedented challenge. The hospital's computer system was compromised, and the hackers responsible demanded $20 million to cease their cyber-attack. With all the conveniences of modern medicine inaccessible to them, the doctors found themselves facing never-before-encountered problems while struggling to save their patients' lives. But in true Grey's Anatomy fashion, one of the doctors found herself dealing not only with a medical crisis but personal drama as well. Jo, formerly Brooke Stadler, was reunited with someone from her past, her abusive husband, Paul Stadler (Matthew Morrison). Now that Paul has arrived in Seattle, what does this mean for Jo moving forward?...

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter news team, we're about to see Grey's Anatomy's main actress Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey (above) branch off and do something different, but you guys don't need to worry. Grey's Anatomy will still remain her main gig. She's not crazy. Grey's Anatomy has been extremely good to her. We just got done reading a story about how many houses she owns. It's insane! Anyways, I digress. So, Ellen's new gig that she has lined up consists of her producing a new show for ABC. The Hollywood Reporter is telling us that it's a courtroom drama type of show. They've already given it a name at this point. It's called,"Big Law." They say it's an adaptation of the Colombian format La ley del corazo. Grey’s Anatomy is back!
The hit medical drama returned with a supersized two-hour season 14 premiere on Thursday, which had everything from family reunions, returning faces and a shocking health revelation for one of our favorite Grey Sloan Memorial doctors.
Grey’s picked back up right where things left off in the finale. A day or so after the fire that ruined parts of the hospital (and the catalyst for Stephanie to leave), Meredith and company attempt to get back to work -- with Owen’s sister, Megan (Abigail Spencer), and closing up her open battle wound their primary objective (which they’re successful doing). Megan’s Seattle arrival also prompts the return of a former colleague, Teddy (Kim Raver), causing a already-present rift between Owen and his wife, Amelia.

Grey’s Anatomy star Giacomo Gianniotti is hopeful that Dr. Andrew DeLuca will see happier days in the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
The 28-year-old actor discussed the future of the love triangle his character is currently entangled in with Jo (Camilla Luddington) and her ex, Alex (Justin Chambers). Over the course of the last season, DeLuca began developing strong feelings for Jo, and it appears there’s a very real possibility for a deeper connection between the two doctors.
“DeLuca’s attempts to confess his feelings to Jo haven’t gone so well for him,” Gianniotti recently told Et. “But personally speaking, I think he jumped the gun a little bit. She’s fresh out of this relationship [with Alex]. I think she just needs a little time to process everything. It’s not necessarily that she doesn’t have interest and feelings for DeLuca, but she needs some space.”

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
Grey’s Anatomy just blew the roof off season 13’s penultimate episode.
At the end of Thursday’s episode, titled “True Colors,” Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) found herself in harm’s way with a patient, Keith, whom she wrongly assumed was worried about another victim’s well-being following a horrific car accident. When she realized that he was attempting to rape the female victim, it was already too late.
With Grey Sloan Memorial on lockdown as the docs feverishly searched for Keith, he held Stephanie hostage with a scalpel by the neck, seeking a way out of the hospital without getting caught. His attempt at successfully escaping was all for naught, though, as the lockdown forced him, Stephanie and a young girl, Erin (Darby Camp), to remain stuck in a hospital corridor.
