In a recent episode of The Talk, Moore reflected on his acting career. He got his start on soaps. Moore booked a gig as Malcolm Winters on Y&r. Producers played a flashback to one of his first scenes on the daytime soap.

Moore hasn’t aged a day. He got sentimental as he saw his younger self acting alongside St. John. Moore remembers that day very well. He revealed that he was hired on April 6, 1994.

Moore got emotional as he saw St. John on the screen as Neil Winters. At first, he said, “Rest in peace, brother.” He then explained that he felt so nervous about his first day.

In the midst of all this, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) is unraveling, and the kidnapping of Jack’s grandson, Harrison Locke (Redding Munsell), adds to his woes. The stress of dealing with Nikki, his former lover and fellow addict, proves to be the tipping point for Jack. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is expected to intervene, which could potentially cause more tension.

The last time fans saw Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) in the Young and the Restless (Y&r) was in May 2023 during the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations. He surprised friends and family when he arrived at the Jazz Club to honor Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John).

Malcolm is the half-brother of Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) and had several conflicts with his brother. This includes getting Neil’s wife pregnant. His return in 2019 was after St. John died and Malcolm returned after Neil’s death on the show.

The Daytime Emmys announced their call for awards entries on Thursday, February 1. But that’s not all. They also revealed a number of changes to this year’s event, including the elimination of the category of Best Younger Performer in a Drama Series, ending a decades-long tradition of honoring the best up-and-coming talent in the medium. Younger performers will now be slotted into lead, supporting or guest categories instead.

National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) president Adam Sharp said in an official statement, “Programming is always changing, and NATAS continues to adapt its competition rules to reflect these shifts in the television landscape. Shemar Moore may have found success in primetime television with “Criminal Minds” and, currently, “S.W.A.T.”, but he’s never forgotten his soap roots.

In fact, Deadline is reporting that Moore will once again be making a return to daytime this year, reprising the role of Malcolm Winters in an upcoming episode of “The Young and the Restless”.

Moore has made occasional returns to the show, including appearances in 2014 and another in 2019 — the latter to honour former co-star Kristoff St. John in a special tribute episode.

According to Deadline, Moore will return to Genoa City as Malcolm Winters for one episode as part of the soap's 50th birthday celebrations.

Shemar initially starred on the series from 1994-2005 and has returned to the role on multiple occasions.

He most recently returned in 2019 for special episodes that paid tribute to Kristoff St. John, who played his on-screen brother Neil.

As for what brings Malcolm back to town, Deadline notes that he's back to "connect with his daughter Lily (Christel Khalil) and nephews Devon (Bryton James) and Nate (Sean Dominic)."

The beloved daytime soap celebrated its 50th anniversary this week, and it's nice to know that the show will continue to tip the hat to the past later in the year.
