London-born Mia is perhaps best known for playing Mirri Maz Duur in HBO's GAME OF THRONES. She first trained as a musician, then studied English Literature at university. Her work spans screen, stage, radio, concert hall and recording studio; acting, composing, writing, directing and teaching. Early theatre work combined acting, improvisation, singing, songwriting, music composition and directing, often with new writers, often at the Royal Court; she has also performed in the classics, and worked with major companies (the National, Royal Shakespeare Company etc) and in the West End. She created the role of Yoko Ono in the West End musical LENNON, which started life in Liverpool, the home of The Beatles. She is experienced in comedy as well as dramatic roles. She is a highly experienced voice/radio actor, having worked countless times with BBC Radio Drama as actor, reader and composer. She performs as a singer-songwriter, with rock bands, and with her recent project The FolkBlues Collective. She sang on the soundtracks of TROY as well as MAMMA MIA!, has written many scores including for TV documentaries THE GREAT EGYPTIANS and DISPATCHES, and has a keen interest in world traditional music, early music, history and watching football.
