Neill Solomon is a renowned multiple award winning film and television soundtrack composer, songwriter and musician. Performing in and writing the musical score for numerous plays naturally lead to him acting in films and scoring music for films such as the cult status film The Angel, the Bicycle and the Chinaman's Finger, for which he won an award for the music score.
Neill has since scored many internationally recognized films and theatre productions such as the acclaimed Jock of the Bushveld, Gavin Hood's -A Reasonable Man and the award winning production Nothing but the Truth by John Kani.
Composing for a large number of television series and commercial's most notably for A Place Called Home for which he won a 2010 Safta Award for best composition in Television. Neill continues to play an integral and valuable role and remains a visionary and legend in the creative realms in the music, film and television platforms contributing his legendary style, versatility and depth to projects.
A sought after composer for a large number of television series, most notably for Florida Road, A Place Called Home ( 2010 Safta award winner for Best Composition), Bay of Plenty (Sarah Bletcher) 90 Plein Street (Ken Kaplan), Wild at Heart (American TV), Die Manakwalanners, Honeytown, Rivoningo, , Skeem Saam and Life is Wild ( UK TV). Neill also successfully scored the music for six years for the daily South African soap, Isidingo.
The TV series Woestynblom saw Neill composing hauntingly beautiful music resonating the sounds of his humble Lebanese roots and being awarded a SAMA for his memorable contributions. In 2016 Neill composed the music score for a 13 part TV Series Sober Companion along with scoring the music for the film Met Kind (With Child) in 2017, which was featured at Cannes Film Festival.
In 2018. Neill reached new heights by scoring the music for the critically acclaimed local film Joko Ya Hao. The film was the brainchild of Mmabatho Montsho, telling the story of the late Winnie Madikizela Mandela. Not surprisingly, this film was nominated as Best Short Film for a SAFTA award, and was featured in the Africa Rising International Film Festival (ARIFF) and broadcast on Showmax.
Recently Neill has scored the music for Ubettina Wethu, a 52 part Soth African TV series and adaptation of the original Yo soy Betty, la fea AKA Ugly Betty as well as the score for an 8 part documentary Legends and Legacies: The Story of a Community, which tells the story of the Jewish Community in South Africa.
